Reconnecting with my 'Why'.

"Is this Grace?” a voice from the other end of the line asked. “Yes.” I said hesitantly.

“I have been looking for you for so long through other contacts. This is ‘Jayden’. Remember the Sales Training you did over 5 years ago at XYZ Company? Well, the company is looking for you. They looked at the ROI for the sales trainings they’ve had over the years and yours stood out. Apparently, there was a 30% increase in sales after your training and they want to contract you for their trainings. Even the receptionist remembers you!’’

This conversation stopped me on my tracks and made me reflect not only on that training, but also on the undeniable importance of understanding your 'why’.

These past few weeks, I have been caught up in the weeds of day-to-day, handling so much that there are instances I have asked if it’s worth it.

And guess what! You’ve been there too. And you've probably thought of quitting entrepreneurship or quitting that job or starting your own business or being a stay-at-home wife or a stay at home husband. And there's nothing wrong with that.

But before you do that, stop and ask yourself what your ‘why’ was.

Here’s why it’s important for you to do that:

  • You can build relationships through your 'Why'. Understanding your 'why' isn't just a personal insight; it's a powerful tool for building connections with others. When you can articulate your purpose, it becomes a common ground. It creates a shared sense of purpose, making collaboration and relationship-building more authentic and meaningful.
  • You’ll recognize your good days and celebrate small wins. Connecting with your 'why' brings an awareness of when things just click. It's about celebrating the small victories as much as the big ones. This heightened awareness transforms ordinary days into extraordinary ones, making the journey more fulfilling. Those good days become a bit sweeter.
  • You’ll draw strength on tough days. Bad days happen to everyone, but your 'why' can be a lifeline. Taking a moment to reflect on your purpose puts challenges into perspective. It keeps your focus on the bigger picture, providing a sense of direction even when the path is tough.

Well, the call made me reconnect with my ‘why’ – live a life of significance and impact. However, in the midst of daily chaos, it's easy to lose sight. This unexpected call was a gentle reminder, urging me to intentionally infuse purpose into every action, to make everything count.

Now, you may be thinking, how can I reconnect or rediscover my ‘why’?

  • Look back at your wins. Think about moments in your career that felt like wins. What were you doing? Why did it matter? That can be your 'why.'
  • Rediscover your passion. What gets you excited? What makes you happy at work? Rekindle that passion. It's often where your 'why' hides.
  • Be intentional. Purpose doesn't have to be complicated. Make intentional choices. Ask yourself, "Why am I doing this? Does it align with what matters to me?"

That call made me realize the impact we can have without even knowing it. ‘Why’ is not just a motivational fancy term; it's the heart of what you do.

As I move forward, I carry this reminder - knowing my 'why' isn't just for big decisions; it's for the everyday choices that shape my journey and the journeys of those around me.

As I was writing this, I remembered a timeless joke:

Q: Why don't scientists trust atoms?

A: Because they make up everything!

And just to be clear, I didn't make up the story nor the insights shared. ??
