Reconnecting: Looking Forward to the WAFC Convention

As the WAFC Convention draws near, the excitement is building. This isn't just about the town halls, the amazing headliners, industry insights, meetings, and great food; it's also about the people and the memories we get to make.

A Snapshot from the Past

I thought I would share a throwback photo of Joe Perez, MBA , former Illuminator Headlite, and me from a previous convention. We always have a blast! Our friendship began in 2013 in Palm Springs when I curiously asked Joe about his camera and why he was taking so many pictures. That simple question led to an invitation (with a slight persuasive nudge) to join the Publicity committee, marking my start with the Illuminators.

The Power of Connections

Then there’s Paul Kamholz , former Illuminator Headlite, who’s always been so good at connecting with others. One evening, I think it was the last night, he approached me to ask who I would like to meet. That conversation quickly led to a round of golf with a well-respected executive in southern California, which not only sealed multiple business deals down the road but also sparked a lasting friendship. Thanks Paul!

What's Coming This Year

This year’s convention promises to be one of the best yet. Sunday begins with the annual Christianson Classic Kick-Off. Of course, there will always be a fun All-Delegate welcome reception, an amazing silent auction, impactful keynotes, and showcases of new food products. I’m particularly excited about the keynote speeches scheduled, which are expected to deliver powerful insights and inspiration.

The Value of New Encounters

I'm also looking forward to unexpected encounters that turn into golden opportunities. Those spontaneous conversations and shared ideas often have the most lasting impact.

The Lasting Impact

Beyond the learning and networking, these conventions remind everyone of the community they are part of. They reinvigorate our passion for the food industry and renew our commitment to our careers and each other.

So, here’s to catching up with old friends, meeting new ones, and sharing all those stories. I’m geared up for the general sessions, town halls, spontaneous conversations, and every moment in between. Colorado, here we come, ready to make new memories and strengthen our ties.
