Interesting to say I have been meaning to read and finish Simon Sinek's book Start with the Why for the past three years. I finally got time to read and finish and i wish i had read it earlier. My takeaways from the book:
The central thesis of the book is that all great leaders and prosperous businesses begin with a clear knowledge of their mission or "why." For long-term success and to persuade people to support your cause, Sinek contends that knowing the "why" behind your activities and objectives is crucial.
According to Sinek, many leaders and organizations concentrate too much on the "what" and "how" of their work (such as the products they sell or the processes they use to manufacture them), failing to recognize or articulate the underlying purpose or values that underpin their endeavors. A sense of devotion and commitment that transcends the actual product or service is created by leaders who begin by focusing on why they are doing what they are doing.
In his book, Simon Sinek gives numerous instances of businesspeople and leaders who have done this successfully, including Martin Luther King Jr., Apple, and Southwest Airlines. As an individual and a member of an organization, he also provides useful guidance on how to define and express your personal "why."
In general, "Start with Why" is an engaging and thought-provoking read that encourages readers to reassess their perspectives on leadership, achievement, and the power of purpose.
Have you read the book as yet? I would be happy to hear your thoughts and please do recommend an interesting that you have read .
