If you had asked me 5 years ago what I had planned for the future, starting my own business would not have featured on the list of things I thought I'd be doing. Circumstances upended my trajectory and here I am today; responsible for generating my own income and hustling for every cent I can in our currently rather dire economy.
Starting your own business is no easy task and anyone doing so (or considering it) is probably wading through copious amounts of information in an attempt to find the best way forward. While there are certain business principles which are universal, it's not always easy to find information that's been written by a South African who has been through the process.
If that's where you find yourself right now, I highly recommend picking up a copy of Marnus Broodryk's "90 Rules for Entrepreneurs". A successful entrepreneur and self-made millionaire, he is an advocate for small business in addition to being the youngest "Shark" on our local version of Shark Tank.
In a Nutshell
Insights include everything from the "I'm toying with the idea of starting a business" and how to get started, to scaling your business and ensuring you get the work/life balance right to avoid burnout.
Peppered with useful resources, input from other successful entrepreneurs and first-hand experience, I highly suggest using this as a starting point, regardless of where you find yourself in your business building journey.
