If you're running into issues with masking tapes making it through your high-temperature powder coating curing process, then this post is for you. We will take you through the recommended tapes you should use based on your specific requirements.
Green Poly Tape
Green poly tape is the industry standard for general-purpose powder coating. Green poly is one of the most popular options for masking tapes for powder coaters and the one we’re most likely to recommend.
Benefits:
Blue Poly Tape (400F / 204C)
Blue polyester tape is the thinnest option and is best for use on uneven and curved surfaces.
Benefits:
Rusty Red Poly Tape (425F / 218C)
Rusty red tape is a great adhesive alternative to green poly as its temperature resistance is slightly higher, which can make all the difference in many powder coating applications.
Benefits:
Glass Cloth Tape (500F / 260C)
Glass cloth tape is made of woven fiberglass backing coated with silicone adhesive, making it flame retardant and great for thicker coats and high heat applications.
Benefits:
Polyimide Tape (500F / 260C)
Polyimide tape can be used for?extended high-temperature paint cures, removes cleanly, & does not leave residue.
