- keep pit volumes as high as possible. Maintain 3/4 tanks volume (minimum) at all times
- Utilization of Bactericide to minimize potential for bacterial degradation and enhance polymer performance, The treatment should be done to the water before adding the polymer (0.25 - 3 ppb water pre-treatment should be enough)
- Increase additions of sodium sulphite to decrease oxygen levels
- Avoid mixing products directly in the suction tank. Mixing must be done in intermediate tanks to avoid aerating mud in suction tank. This is pumped down hole further causing aeration problems
- Shut off all mixing equipment, when not in use
- pH should be between 9 - 10.5
- Use degasser to help in de-aerating the mud, run degasser on bottoms up after trip to remove gas
- Stop using the solids control equipment other than shakers and use all shakers available to help in aeration removal
- Defoamer additions should be done very slowly and at controlled rate. Avoid over treatment with defoamer (a good defoamer will work with very small concentration)
- Pressurized mud balance must be used at all times to check density.
