Recommendation is basically appreciating someone for his/ her work. You can write it for anyone, it depends upon the recommendation recipient to display it on their profile.?

You can also ask for recommendation by requesting via direct message.?You have 3 options like decline, ask for revision or delete when you receive it.

Here LinkedIn provides some information about it-

1. You can edit or delete recommendations you've sent at any time.

2. When you give a recommendation, the other person can see it by clicking the Received link in the Recommendations section of their profile. You can see the recommendation by clicking the Given link in the Recommendations section of your own profile. Either one of you can choose to hide the recommendation.

3. Recommendations can only be displayed on your LinkedIn profile if they're requested through LinkedIn and both parties have LinkedIn profiles. You can't add an email or other type of message as a recommendation.

As per my opinion here is number of points which one should remember while writing down recommendation for anyone-

Good Start
Describe your relationship
Highlight his/ her standout trait
End with recommending person

While writing don't forget to add emotional and personal touch. It will help other person in convincing!!

It is basically showcasing your professional achievements on your LinkedIn profile by adding and editing projects. It is last section of your profile. You can add this in bullet form also as it will be eye catching and will impress viewer.
