Recommendation Report

Recommendation Report

I strongly recommend using templates for recommendation reports.

Below are some key points a good template should include.

  1. Background

An introduction of background is important as the top management is far too busy with their daily more important business. Thus, it is deemed necessary as they may be unable to keep track of the grounds of matters. A quick background introduction is good for their understanding.

2. Budget and funds allocation

Next, information on where the budgets are from, how much is the cost, and how much is left after the award.

3. Summary

A table for comparisons among the companies who participate in the tender process. What are your recommendations and the reasons behind them? Remember to do your technical due diligence (TDD) before you recommend. I am very sure no one wants to recommend a company that quoted the most competitive price but unable to deliver, they may go bankrupt as they are too desperate to bid on a project just to tie over their critical period (especially the ripple effect from COVID). Thus, I highly recommend to check what is the market average price and compare it to your tenderer to have a better view of the actual condition and enable you to do a proper recommendation.

The Advantage of using Template

Different people have different preferences on how things should be carried out.

A template is more effective to do a Recommendation Report as below:

  1. Direct and straight to the point while filling up the template.
  2. One size fits all, cutting down unnecessary back-and-forth amendments due to different people's preferences.
  3. Time spent on the Recommendation Report can be unproductive to please every approval officer.

Please share and discuss should you have better means or ideas.
