Recognizing and Interrupting Racism
Maria Medrano Armington
Bilingual. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Specialist. Corporate Trainer, Facilitator, and Executive Coach
Twenty people attended the event. They were educators, realtors, graduate students, and others from all walks of life and diverse ethnicity, gender, and age. They shared about their experience and then practiced how to stand up to racism and bigotry in daily life while remaining safe.
It was a very productive and participative session. Each one of the attendees is committed to promoting greater respect, understanding, and compassion. How about you?
DESCRIPTION
Interrupting expressions of bigotry can be intimidating, but with some practice, we can learn how to move past our shock and concern and move into Upstander mode. Join us as we explore some of the stereotypes and assumptions people have and how we can best respond while keeping everyone safe.

2 年Trying to gain exposure for a Dari & Pashto translator who has extensive experience having previously worked w/ our military and currently volunteering w/ Flanders Fields. Samiullah Safi is his LinkedIn profile name. His posted info speaks for itself. An immediate reference to qualify 'Sami's' services & immense skill set is Veteran Ben Owen. Even if you have no matching opportunities within your organization for employment, any guidance and direction for something similar within the field would be greatly appreciated! It's the least we can do for someone to served with us and for us.... sacrificed all from his native home, including family he had no choice but to leave behind. Hopefully, that situation will sooner than later be rectified! Sami is trying to gain footing & establish a self supporting life in his new country. I can't connect to you for some reason. I cannot msg you unless I upgrade to premium. So please forgive me for adding this as a comment to a post; it actually does apply to the topic of your post :-) PLEASE review Sami's profile to see if his assets fit your organization's current needs. Someone somewhere can definitely use Sami's unique skills!
