Recognition Well-Deserved
Kelly Piccininni
Senior Director, HR Operations and Shared Services at Northside Hospital
One thing I know about my Northside colleagues is that they love what they do.
It shows in their dedication to give everything they have to help those who are sick or injured. They do it willingly every day. That’s why I believe it’s important that they are recognized and honored for the difference they’re making. It’s a belief I know is shared by the leadership here at Northside. We work hard to take care of our team members, and acknowledging their contributions is a part of that.
That makes October a great month, because it’s filled with observances that showcase different health care professions, and we don’t let any of those days or weeks pass without mention. It’s one more way to show our employees how much we appreciate how hard they work.
We recently marked Emergency Nurses Day on Oct. 10, a day set aside to thank the nurses who provide crucial care when seconds count. They are a special breed and certainly deserve the honor.
We also celebrated Physician Assistant Week and National Hospital and Health-System Pharmacy Week, which calls out the critical work of these skilled professionals.
During this month, we’re marking Physical Therapy Month – honoring those who help patients work to regain independence – and Pharmacists Month, paying homage to those who make sure patients get the right medicine at the right time.
I am always so proud to work with such special people and it’s gratifying to see their professions being singled out for praise. Every day, I see more and more reasons that each one of them deserves the recognition. They make our patients better – and they make our health system the best it can be!
