The ReCODE Protocol-Positive Results for Alzheimer’s Treatment

Our?recent study?in the peer-reviewed scientific journal-Biomedicines, suggests that a multi-factorial program is an effective treatment for people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. Our study “ReCODE: A Personalized, Targeted, Multi-Factorial Therapeutic Program for Reversal of Cognitive Decline” shows memory scores improving for 51 percent of the participants who were suffering from subjective cognitive impairment, mild cognitive impairment, and early Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Unlike other so called successful therapies that simply slow the rate of decline, our study showed that cognition was stabilized or improved for 74 percent of participants. Furthermore, in addition to cognition, there were also significant improvements in risk factors for AD including blood glucose, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, HOMA-IR, and vitamin D.

The ReCODE program which is based on the work of Dale Bredesen, targets the contributors of each person’s cognitive decline through a software-based algorithm analysis of labs, medical questionnaires, and cognitive testing. In addition to looking for specific drivers of cognitive decline, participants in the program are encouraged to follow the seven diet and lifestyle sections (called the B7) including Nutrition; Exercise; Sleep; Stress; Stimulation; Detox; and Supplements.

AD is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. It is progressive and ultimately fatal. Even the recently approved drug aducanumab does not stabilize or reverse symptoms. This makes the need to develop effective prevention and treatment increasingly pressing. The ReCODE protocol which is now available for consumers through Apollo Health, has proven to be an effective treatment for individuals experiencing subjective cognitive impairment, mild cognitive impairment, and early-stage AD.

Our ReCODE study builds on a small proof of concept clinical trial that also utilized the same approach. In that trial, which had higher rates of adherence, the results were even more impressive, with 84% of participants experiencing cognitive improvement. Taken together, these results offer genuine hope to the millions of people with dementia or mild cognitive impairment, as well as those at risk due to family histories of dementia
