#ReclaimSlainte on March 17, 2021
Five weeks from today is the feast of the Patron Saint of Ireland.
And five weeks ago the Sober St. Patrick's Day? Foundation, Inc. (SSPD) team shifted into fifth gear tackling the constraints of the Covid-19 lockdown. Led by Founder William Spencer Reilly, we worked together to ensure the wellbeing of the team, performers, artists, and dancers traditionally gathering and performing in New York City after the parade.
At the heart of what SSPD does is “Sláinte” — an Irish toast that actually translates to “health.” In “Reclaiming the Day” we also seek to “Reclaim Sláinte” — a sincere embrace and toast to health — fueled by Irish culture, the saint himself, and healthy and safe celebrations. So we evolved to transform our signature #SoberStPatricksDay party in NYC into a global virtual celebration so that our community can celebrate safe and sober at home.
We are well are on our way thanks in much part to partners from my amazing network who have joined the #SSPDTeam:
- Samantha Kelly is a global member of the IBO, and we have partnered on several networking events over the past year. When it became clear that the SSPD 10th anniversary celebration would need to evolve into a virtual production, we invited Sam to be our host in Ireland and our social media consultant to help spread the word. Because of her own experience in recovery and large following of over 57K on Twitter, the amplification has been amazing!
- Jim Frawley has joined the SSPD Board of Directors and hit the ground running by starting the SSPD Running Club! Jim first “met” Bill Reilly on his Bellwether podcast.
- Bridget O’Brien is handling our SSPD 10th anniversary media campaign and we are thrilled to have her as she also handles PR for the St. Patrick's Day Parade in NYC. Bridget serves on the Irish Business Organization of New York Executive Board with me, and with Jim Frawley in years past.
- Treasa Goodwin Smyth, our Ireland Calls Radio Show friend, was kind enough to have Bill on her radio show in September, and continues to check-in and share insights.
I would be honored to have my LinkedIn network join the 10th anniversary virtual celebration on March 17, 2021 -- free this year -- as we introduce and welcome a global community to the Sober St. Patrick's Day? family. It starts at 4 p.m. in New York and 8 p.m. in Ireland. Register today www.soberstpatricksday.org

And for folks who have time, treasure, and talent to contribute, I would be very happy to share the Sober St. Patrick’s Day 10th Anniversary Sponsorship Package, inspired by “Ireland’s Patron Saint, his Global reach, the passionate Irish Diaspora, his alive and well Spirit, and the Angels among us.” Your support will help us bring together a decade of partners, entertainers, leaders, and the Irish diaspora for a virtual, global celebration.
