The fatal shooting last weekend of a protestor in downtown Portland should give all of us pause, regardless of which side of the “political divide” we find ourselves. What we are witnessing here in Oregon is the ultimate test of the great American experiment, launched almost two and a half centuries ago. The central question is whether it is possible to establish a government “ruled not by accident and force, but by reason and choice.” How we choose to proceed in Oregon will, at least in part, answer that question. 4 年This is a needed suggestion and hope we get there. I do wonder that at this time your requests are reasonable and I am not sure that those that have been hurt and are hurting from the continual injustices along with monetary/health disparities due to COVID are truly able to slow down. At current state most are in a continual process of flight/fight response that it is biological response in nature, which is not a place for reason and collaborate, so how do we as a state address those needs that have been neglected for so long. It is privilege to say please slow down stop and regroup when you truly feel your life is on the line. I so hope we can get to that Moral Highground. Appreciate your continued leadership and wisdom.
