Reciprocity

Reciprocity

"We are showered every day with gifts from Mother Earth, gifts we have neither earned nor paid for - air to breathe, gentle rain that nurtures life, rich black soil beneath our surface, sweet berries, and a bag of rice (my favorite)"

But what are we giving in return?

In our relentless pursuit of progress, we've forgotten an ancient truth: everything in nature operates in cycles of giving and receiving. Yet, humanity seems stuck in an endless loop of taking.

Ancient humans saw Earth as alive - not because they were simple, but because they understood something we're just starting to remember: we're not outside of nature, we're part of it.

In their wisdom, they lived by a sacred principle: Reciprocity.

Reciprocity is rooted in the understanding that we are not alone and that the world is populated by non-human beings, wise and inventive beings that deserve our respect.

True reciprocity runs deeper than our modern gestures of recycling or planting trees (though yes, these matter). It calls us to reimagine our relationship with Earth completely. To transform ourselves from mindless consumers into conscious caretakers of this living planet.

It asks us a simple question:

When we take, what do we give back?

"What if we measured progress not by what we extract, but by what we replenish?

What if businesses had to prove their positive impact on Earth's systems before being allowed to operate?

What if we treated environmental regeneration as a fundamental human responsibility?"

This isn't just about sustainability - it's about revival.

This isn't just about conservation - it's about connection.

This isn't just about survival - it's about belonging.

We aren't merely inhabitants of Earth. We are Earth.
