Recipe for viral content…
doesn’t exist :D Sorry for disappointing you right away, now you can stop reading this article :D but if you're still interested, that’s the “ugly” truth.?
I started creating #content several years ago to figure out how it works. I sure can say I’ve reached my goal up to some point, which can be simply called: professional level of content creation. I can also say that I’ve succeeded in going #viral several times and learned about ways to vastly increase the chance of getting noticed and get multiple reposts and 1 mln+ views.?
First time I did it, I couldn’t believe what I saw. I made a comparative #cycling video, posted it with a short caption and, as usual, closed the IG app and went back offline. The next day I opened my account, I simply couldn’t believe it. I got over 1k new followers, around 100k views and some 1k likes. I checked and it was all from this one post. It was an absolutely unexpected BINGO! This reel ended up being popular for a very long time. The overall stats were:?
I made 2 more posts in the same key. They were a bit less successful than the first, but also did splendid work. I can guess that the interest would fade if I kept posting something very similar, but I cannot say for sure as I didn’t have enough material to empirically test it. I can tell you though that I’ve made a sequence after another viral video and it wasn’t at all as successful. This again proved that there’s no uniform recipe for booming the engagement.

Based on my experience I’ve developed a following approach to increase a chance of getting your content noticed:
Sorry for not giving you the point by point manual on “how to go viral”. I also cannot say: “You’ll eventually get to it”. I can only advise you to keep in mind the 7 points from above and keep trying and experimenting. That’s exactly what I do. And in case you want me to do it for you, please let me know ;)

4 个月Coming from marketing in the music industry i recognize what you say. In fact this very article is a good example: a punchy headline, a honest plot twist followed by valid points (so it's not only clickbait). I think the point is to create positive interactions and good (not perfect) quality content. It's like surfing. You can be ready to catch the wave, but you don't create the wave itself.

6 个月I suspected there's no secret sauce here… And really, the problem is that when we do marketing on any platform, we're bound by that platforms rules, which are often cryptic. And changing. I sometimes have zero idea why a post that sparks discussion and is on an interesting topic seems to tank on LinkedIn… It's frustrating, really, sometimes.
