A Recipe for Reminisce
Take a pinch of Judge Judy, a dab of Jeopardy, a slice of The Price is Right, maybe a smidgen of Wheel of Fortune, and a heaping helping of Bob Ross, The Antique Road Show, and The Lawrence Welk Show and you would have the greatest television mashup recipe for all-around family entertainment ever. Or would you?
At PHOTAVIA, we strive to capture the essence of some of our most beloved TV shows and their most memorable hosts, blending the very best elements of each to create an engaging and entertaining experience for our viewers. Our programming and new production ideas are inspired by the special ingredients that make us gravitate toward these classic shows and so many more from the almost a century of TV viewing.
We spend a lot of time in the aging space, so some shows keep popping up in community spaces. It’s easy to see what made some of these shows?o-so-popular, others you may have to dig deeper, to see a greater value and positive purpose.
Let's take a closer look at what some of us love about these iconic programs:
Judgemental Judy: Her no-nonsense approach and straightforward attitude are undeniably captivating. While her verdicts may not always lead to happily-ever-after endings, the closing sequence where the plaintiff and defendant respond to the ruling is always entertaining. It invites us to ponder: Who do we agree with? Was Judy's decision fair? This added layer of engagement keeps us hooked.
Jeopardy: This brain-teasing trivia powerhouse has left an indelible mark on viewers for nearly four decades. Its ability to impart knowledge and encourage lifelong learning is truly a gift. The sheer breadth of topics covered in just 30 minutes is mind-boggling, guaranteeing that we'll walk away with daily "A-ha moments" and a wealth of newfound knowledge.
Bob Ross: Three simple words encapsulate the essence of his iconic PBS show: "The ARM Concept" – Anticipation, Relaxation, and Motivation. His soothing presence and artistic guidance create an atmosphere of tranquility, inspiring us to unleash our creative potential. I think I am going to go paint a “Happy Cloud” right after I finish this.
The Lawrence Welk Show: While the music, dancing, and special guests were undoubtedly entertaining, it was the audience shots that truly captured our attention. We eagerly scanned the front rows, hoping to catch a glimpse of a familiar face – a beloved grandmother or aunt. Moreover, the show's rhythmic countdowns instilled in us a sense of timing and rhythm that even "The Count" from Sesame Street couldn't match. “A-one-a, and-a-two-a, and a-three...”
The Price Is Right: The elements of surprise and uncertainty are what keep us on the edge of our seats. As our friend Roger Anunsen of Mindramp Consulting aptly points out, "It's the anticipation of guessing the exact price of those brand-new matching kitchen appliances!" that ignites our brains and keeps us engaged.
At PHOTAVIA, we aim to distill the best qualities of these beloved shows, creating a unique blend that entertains, educates, surprises and inspires our viewers. By capturing the essence of what made these classics so captivating, we strive to deliver an unforgettable viewing experience that resonates with audiences of all ages. Honestly kids, I can’t wait to see what we have cooking next.

PhoTrivia as a MindBender.
Beth shared with all The Engagement Bundle Partners her great day and experience with the team and residents at Canton Regency. Beth is a caring and loving soul who is wonderfully passionate about her work and all the partners work through The Engagement Bundle. We will share just a portion of her day and some of her "Moments in Time" Photavia stories. Beth wrote: "Hello!? I arrived at 9 am and left right around 2 pm. Airianna Culler the regional director who was recently promoted from being the activity director at Canton Regency gave me a full building tour. They have 170 independent living residents, about 50 AL residents, and 30 memory care residents. Aegis Health and Rehabilitation primarily works in IL and AL. There are three Aegis Living staff members in the activities area and they also have speech/occupational/physical therapists in the building. We suggested that they too could be using the Bundle. Why not use MemoryBio or Photavia in speech therapy???
Next, as this ended, we rolled right into MemoryBio / Photavia time which was on the calendar as part of their “MindBenders” program – this happens weekly and they start their Trivia/Game time with either MemoryBio or Photavia....Next Maddie and I pulled up Photavia and we played the awesome Apollo 11 clip.? We were all very proud of our Ohio boy Neil Armstrong….and people remembered where they were in some cases when the moon landing happened.? It was fun because then it led to young 20-something Maddie?asking….what was that first TV show that switched from black and white to color TV.? Someone else looked it up on their phone and then we were talking about Ed Sullivan. We talked about the upcoming eclipse. So this also was a nice 15 minute session --- we could have gone longer but they were needing to get moving to the dining room."
Thanks for the amazing support of our friends at Aegis and Canton Regency. Here's to Better Living Through Imagery.
