Recharge Often...
Welcome back.
Many people who know me understand that I am a complete introvert. Really.
This does not mean I am anti-social (well, not all the time or on purpose lol) or can't speak in front of groups or hate attending parties (well, maybe sometimes lol).
Huh.
It does really mean I need time away from people to rest and recharge.
THAT is how I get my energy (versus the extroverts of the world who suck the energy -- err.... I mean GET their energy -- from people all around them.
How does this related to the purpose of this weekly newsletter?
The Problem:?I'm Cooked
This week, imagine you and I are at a conference.
You decide where and when. Online. In-person. Go for it!
ME: "Hey, how are you?"
YOU: "I'm cooked."
Recharge Time.
The Actionable Tip: Recharge Often
This does not mean become a hermit [crab?].
This does mean make sure you make time for self-care and rest.
Especially when things seem overwhelming.
In the comments below, please share?ONE?actionable tip about how you "recharge" in order to do less and become more productive.
Go!
Thank you.
PS: I write this to you today as I look into the mirror. Next week I'll be in Austin Texas for a face-to-face conference, popping into our ScrumRVA meetup at home in Richmond, Virginia, and then Friday morning spending time with an awesome group of people at CAAC-12 after getting home after midnight Thursday. So yeah... recharge how you need. Reminder [ON] for me!

1 年I block out time on my calendar before and after an event. As several have mentioned, I know I will need time to recharge, but I also try to pre-charge (I guess you could call it) by giving myself quiet before the storm of activities.

1 年Take PTO, as often as possible. While I re-charge several ways, my favorite is to take time off to spend time with my wife (and sometimes invite our kids) frequently. A minimum of a weekend-style getaway every two months.
