Action Based Learning National Training Summit coming to the Atlanta area this summer!

Recess or no recess. Action Based Learning keeps K-12th graders moving while in school

Rain or shine. Recess or no recess. Action Based Learning (ABL) provides the movement essential for students to re-engage, re-energize and re-orient themselves. It's all about the brain science of low intensity, purposeful movements necessary for the brain to receive what it needs in order for cognition to happen. It's simple movement, backed by powerful science, carried out inside the classroom. Students are allowed to move while they learn. Teachers benefit from having a productive classroom - students are more attentive, less disruptive and tend to show improved grades. But how?

This summer, the how and why of Action Based Learning is being presented in a 2-day professional development summit coming to the Atlanta area!

The July 15th-16th Action Based Learning Summit will bring the research, the documentation, the testimonials and the "how-to" about this methodology that is already effective in K-12 schools around the U.S.

Dr. Tony Boatwright of Richland County Schools, SC speaks about the positive results of movement-included classrooms in this video clip:

In Georgia, Compton Elementary is leading with the first elementary ABL Lab in the Cobb County School district. Under the direction of principal Beth Lair, a fully equipped room was recently completed for their kindergarteners through second graders. The K-2nd grade ABL Lab has skill-based activities and equipment that are age and weight appropriate. Action Based Learning has defined The 12 Foundations of Learning Readiness which address each developmental stage starting with the corpus collosum and cross lateralization through the limbic system and self-management. Compton Elementary will serve as the host location for this summer's training event and their Lab will be open to attendees.

The comprehensive two day training will delve into the science, the implementation and the demonstration of what makes Action Based Learning work in order for students of all ages to thrive.

Action Based Learning’s Master Trainer Cindy Hess will lead the two-day Summit. Hess is the co-founder of Action Based Learning and recognized as a leader in Physical Education and the Pennsylvania Physical Education Teacher of the Year Award Recipient, State Professional Honor Award Recipient and featured expert on ABC’s Good Morning America "Getting Kids Moving in School." The cost is $495 per person for the 2-day event. Attendees will earn a Certificate of Completion for 16 Hours of Continuing Education. Lunch and snacks provided both days! The Summit is interactive and presented in a casual atmosphere, so come dressed comfortably - movement is what Action Based Learning is all about!
