Recently got laid-off? This might be a good thing.

First of all, if you recently got laid off please don’t take any offense to this post.

I am sincerely sensitive to your situation because I’ve been there before as well.? It’s not fun getting that news.

All I’m saying here is that this is a great opportunity to re-assess what truly matters to you when choosing your next opportunity.

I’ve worked in corporate sales and sales management for most of my career and I’ve also been self - employed. ? As I got older I started to re-assess my career and what was truly important to me and my family.

Here you go.

  • I realized that what was important to me was having time and freedom.
  • This job was never going to fund my goals and dreams.
  • I would never get wealthy working for someone.
  • I was never gonna be able to retire. Sure I had a 401k but with all the fees you pay plus taxes, I’m lucky to get 50% of my 401k.
  • As a grown man, I got tired of asking somebody ( usually 10 years or more younger ) for time off.
  • Having a job was “modern day slavery”. We are lured by benefits to stay at our jobs but we don’t realize that if we remain there we will never fulfill our goals and dreams.
  • Carrying a quota means you start at ZERO at the beginning of every month. The company doesn’t care what you did the month before.
  • Having a job is the least secure position to be in.? You can be laid off at any time.? Especially true during the holidays when companies want to look good for their investors by trimming the “Fat” fat year end…..Yes, YOU ARE THE FAT.
  • Finally, I wanted to find a way to make passive income. If I went on vacation for a month, I wanted to be able to generate income while sitting on a beach in Fiji.

If you resonate with this, the best time to start some kind of side hustle is while you have the time in between jobs. Start building a business while you have the time. So when you land a job you’ve already set the foundation for your exit strategy. Also, when looking for a side hustle make sure you can leverage other people to help build your business while you work your full time gig. There are opportunities that are structured this way with proven systems that work.

You’re gonna have to devote some hours to your new business.? I did it on weekends and evenings.? You’re probably thinking, “ I work 50 hours a week now with my full time job.? I need my weekends and evenings to relax and recharge for my job.”

My response to that is, you’ve been an employee all your life. Our mindset needs to change from an employee mindset to an entrepreneur mindset, active income to passive income. Entrepreneurs do what employees aren’t willing to do.? This shift takes time and you have to be willing to put in the work to change that mindset.? Trust me, I’m still working on getting rid of my employee mindset.

Finally, if you would like to learn more about starting a business or build a company , I’d be happy to have a conversation with you.? Feel free to book a time on my calendar. https://calendly.com/raypanliliorfm
