Recent Oil Commission Completed With a Couple of Firsts!

Most of my commissions are created as gifts and my latest commission was a special portrait gift from a husband to his wife on Valentine's day.

This was the first animal I have painted. This painting was a portrait of my client's wife, a professional jumper on her beloved horse during competition.  

And my client wanted it framed with live edged wood. I love working with wood. So, I created my first custom frame made out of Western Maple for this commission.

I was up for the challenge. Like every commission I create there is always something new to learn during it's process.
