Vindication for Dean Phillips -- better late than never:? Dean Phillip’s main reason for running against Biden in the Democratic nomination was his view that the candidate was too old and could not win.? He didn’t accept this challenge lightly.?? Prior to entering the race, he called at least two governors with the hope of finding a more viable candidate.? The Democrat machine kept him off the ballot.? Read this New York Times articleabout his campaign and his reaction to the President withdrawing from the race.? Dean Phillips is retiring from Congress.? His seat is listed as Safe Democrat.? They guy deserves the Profile in Courage Award but that won’t happen.
60-year olds in Financial Peril:? This WSJ article documents the large number of people nearing retirement age with very little saved.? Recent laws enacted during the Trump and Biden administrations to increase retirement savings did very little if anything at all to help people who are struggling to save for retirement.? Go here for a discussion of the law enacted in the Biden years.? In theory, a post-Biden economic agenda would include discussion of policies that increase retirement savings for households struggling to save and prevent automatic benefit cuts to Social Security, two topics included in my recent post.?
