Recent Forrester Wave report on top CPQ Providers with analysis of Salesforce CPQ And Salesforce Industries CPQ

Forrester recently published a Forrester Wave article which weights and analyses their view of the top 14 Configure, Price, Quote Platforms.

Both Salesforce CPQ/Revenue Cloud and Salesforce Industries CPQ rate highly against Oracle and other leading solutions such as Conga and PROS.

One highlighted area in the study is the importance of industry specific CPQ requirements and solutions and so favouring vendors which takes this approach eg. with telecoms and media order management needs are best met with purpose built solutions for that industry. Salesforce Industries is called out as a best fit for communications, media, energy, and utilities for this reason.

Also highlighted is omnichannel solutions with requirements to support channel partner portals and direct sales through marketplaces. Salesforce Industries is again acknowledged here with referenced cases for direct sales, channel partners and online buyers.

Forrester also stress the importance of the revenue lifecycle management and how well a CPQ solution will integrate the rest of the quote-to-revenue environment. Salesforce CPQ/Revenue Cloud is marked highly here with 5 out of 5 for this category through its billing capabilities and recent addition of Salesforce Contracts.

So overall both Salesforce CPQ and Salesforce Industries CPQ sit side by side in the second spot to the leadership of Oracle in terms of strategic positioning. A fair point is raised regarding potential confusion between Salesforce Industries CPQ and Salesforce CPQ in the eyes of potential customers. With the recent addition of Salesforce Subscription Management which is predominantly an api solution this may add to the complexity of decision making.

Overall though for a Salesforce committed customer with a multi-cloud environment the conclusion is Salesforce CPQ is a great fit offering leverage and plug in capabilities from the entire Salesforce platform and ecosystem.
