HUON HOOKE’S THE REAL REVIEW (Australia):

THE REAL REVIEW

Chateau Tanunda

The Chateau Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Stuart Knox

93 points

Deep ruby hue with dark plum and bitter chocolate aromatics. Ripe dark fruits, rich notes of chocolate and a savoury ironstone undertone all combine to bring a sense of weight and drive to the palate. Bringing it all together are granular tannins which persist right to the long and bone-dry finish. A good steak would be recommended alongside. 2023-2034

The Chateau Single Vineyard Chardonnay 2022

Aaron Brasher

90 points

Ripe peach, nutty and creamy oak aromas. Rich, ripe and opulent on the palate, stone fruit, melon, nougat, layered and long. A bit old school, but a very enjoyable wine. 2023-2026

The Chateau Single Vineyard Bethanian Shiraz 2021

Aaron Brasher

90 points

Dark and inky in the glass. Quite 'old school' aromas of plum, sweet, dusty oak, blackberry and a lick of eucalyptus. Full, rich and slurpy on the palate, full of dark fruits, sappy oak, spice and dark chocolate. Decent structure, length and mouth-feel. Chunky but enjoyable. 2023-2033

SAM KIM - WINE ORBIT (Australia/NZ): ?

Grand Barossa Dry Riesling 2021

Barossa

94

Pristine and elegantly expressed, the wine shows lime cordial, fig, crunchy apple and jasmine aromas, leading to a brilliantly focused palate that's refined and linear. Wonderfully framed by lively acidity, making it superbly structured and lingering. At its best: 2024 to 2036.

The Chateau Single Vineyard Chardonnay 2022

Eden Valley

93

It's splendidly composed and expressed, showing ripe stone fruit, rock melon, lemon peel and vanilla oak aromas, followed by a wonderfully weighted palate offering excellent weight and creamy flow. Delightfully framed by juicy acidity, finishing long and silky. At its best: now to 2030.
