Recapturing The Loss Brain

Recapturing The Loss Brain

Loss of Self ~ Loss of Function~ LOSS!

There is no one recipe in recovering from TBIs, unfortunately!

If we are to discuss TBIs, we must be candid and talk about the Agony![Tweet]

Recovery can be as grueling as the Injury itself. Our brains require immense amount of REST! This is contrary to our current model of living.

We have devices everywhere to keep the brain from resting, the much needed REM sleep. We must ameliorate this ailment of humanity before we imploded our own lives. Humans cannot operate in this fashion, we are riddle with all too many diseases and ailments; due to our lack of setting boundaries and healthier choices for our brains, our bodies and our lives.

Recovery demands REST! If you are not willing to change your life and rest, do not read on! This is your greatest challenge; What will you chose for yourself to have Freedom? [Tweet}

Our very culture does not allow for injuries, nor does our medical system or our legal system. Our culture does not allow for sick days or rest days, even vacations are sneered upon, in all too many companies. Some businesses might fire a person for taking a vacation, which is not lawful. Who investigates these actions, who reports these violations? For most, that job serving an egregious employer is one step from starvation and homelessness.

We must change our priorities!! Opportunity is knocking, if we are willing to look outside the norm of our lives. It may not feel very good in the beginning, nonetheless, the outcome is:      Recovery = Freedom

We compound the injury with worry! Pay the bills, have a home, purchase food, the kids, dogs/cats, our joy! The basics are a struggle for many. We are left in a quandary of never recovering to save what little life we have, this capitulates our very needs in life!

Our Governing bodies really don't give a DAMN, it is up to us to resolve this increasing malady in our world. It is more than a can of maggots, our 21st century Leprosy colonies: our injured, our sick, our poor and homeless, our veterans!

The brain goes into a Flight - Fight - Freeze mode. I call this CTS- Compulsive Trauma Syndrome. We are dealing with an injury that has caused Trauma to the brain.

Our brain begins to function less and less as we agonize over each moment in attempting to communicate, perform simple tasks we once took for granted; such as turning over in bed and not vomiting!!

Stepping over a garden hose and not falling!

Simply to dance one last time with grace!! [Tweet]

There are no easy solutions, nonetheless there is momentum in progression.

  1. Meditation: simply be quiet! Take short quiet moments ALONE. Listen to nature, cease the chatter, watch your breath. No need for a Guru! Watch the clouds then close your eyes, feel your brain relax!
  2. Deep Sleep - REM: You must have REM sleep every night.
  3. Sleep in a Dark room
  4. Use ear plugs
  5. Use a very light weight (black to deep purple or indigo blue) long cloth over your eyes. Long enough to move with your sleep patterns.
  6. Turn off All Devices for 9 hours!
  7. Falling asleep in front of the TV is not your Rest Room and does not count as Sleep.
  8. Make these few suggestion an immediate habit for your everyday life. Your Brain, your life depends on your commitment. [Tweet]
  9. Learn when your Brain hits its Fatigue level.
  10. Learn your body's capacity for all activities.

Finally, and maybe most difficult for many, ask for help. Think about what you need and be clear.

Set firm Boundaries for yourself and others, let others know you are recovering from an injury.  They will never understand your massive torment or despair.

Remember, drugs are a Tool, a temporary panacea to aid you in how you can create the same condition on your own. Unless, you have a systemic problem, work with your medical personnel in getting off drugs. Your brain does not recover from drugs, it recovers through behavior and real food.

The more you are willing to see the "I Can Mode" the more your brain will begin to push forward and change. The choice is yours.

This is not an easy road, it is filled with detours and unknowns. Nevertheless, if you are willing to change your mind of the unknown to an adventure, and begin to think: what else do you have to do with your life, other than recover and regain Freedom? [Tweet] These might be your panacea for your brain, your life and your body.
