?Welcome to this edition on "Recap & Reset" (#203)
As the year draws to a close, it's natural to engage in introspection, evaluating the goals we set for ourselves at the beginning of the journey. Did we achieve what we aimed for, or did our aspirations get lost in the hustle and bustle of daily life? In this reflective exploration, let's categorize our goals into four distinct buckets—those we planned but didn't do, those we planned but deferred, those we planned but delayed until external pressures intervened, and finally, those we actively pursued and achieved. By examining the reasons behind our actions or inactions, we can glean valuable insights to better plan and navigate the upcoming year.
Goals Planned but Didn't Do:
We all have those aspirations that lingered on the to-do list, promising ourselves to get to them but somehow never did. These goals, though important, remained untouched. Perhaps it was the fear of failure, a lack of motivation, or competing priorities that hindered our progress.
Reflection Tip:?Identify the underlying reasons for inaction. Was it fear, lack of priority, or a genuine shift in interest? Understanding the root cause can pave the way for more realistic goal setting.
Goals Planned but Deferred:
Some goals are like postponed dreams—they remain on the horizon, waiting for the perfect moment to materialize. Whether it's learning a new skill, starting a passion project, or making a significant life change, deferring goals often means delaying personal growth.
Reflection Tip:?Examine the reasons behind deferring goals. Were they too ambitious, or did unforeseen circumstances intervene? Consider how you can recalibrate these goals for the upcoming year.

Goals Planned but Delayed Until External Pressures Forced Completion:
Certain goals only saw the light of day when external pressures, such as deadlines or unforeseen circumstances, propelled us into action. While the end result may have been achieved, relying solely on external forces can limit our sense of accomplishment.
?Reflection Tip:?Understand the role external pressures played in achieving these goals. Recognize the need for self-motivation and consider setting internal deadlines to maintain momentum.
Goals Planned and Actively Pursued:
Celebrating achievements is equally important. Some goals were not just planned but actively pursued and successfully accomplished. These are the moments that validate our efforts, showcasing the power of dedication and perseverance.
Reflection Tip:?Identify the factors that contributed to the active pursuit of these goals. Was it passion, accountability, or a supportive environment? Replicate these elements in setting new goals for the upcoming year.?
Let me wrap up with this excellent anecdote shared by the life coach, Gaur Gopal Das, during one of his enlightening talks. Picture this: a friend paying a visit to someone's home, engaged in a conversation in the cozy living room. Suddenly, the host's son strides in, beaming with pride, proclaiming that he has successfully memorized all multiplication tables up to 10. Intrigued, the father decides to put his son's newfound knowledge to the test and asks, "How much is 9 times 8?" The son, with confidence, responds, "92." In a generous display of encouragement, the father pats his son on the back and rewards him with a candy.
Now, the friend, understandably perplexed, questions the father's choice to commend and reward his son for an incorrect answer. The father, with a twinkle in his eye, offers a profound insight. He explains, "Well, just yesterday, he insisted it was 122. So, you see, it's progress. Eventually, he will get there."?
This heartwarming tale serves as a gentle reminder that sometimes, acknowledging the journey and celebrating progress can be as significant as applauding the destination.???Reflecting on the goals we set and the progress we made can be a powerful exercise in self-awareness and personal growth. I invite you to share your reflections!!!
I wish everyone a happy, healthy, and prosperous new year. Thank you and have a great long weekend.
Great article, the anecdote in the end is deeply inspiring, happy new year, hope you achieve many more goals ????
