For the eighth time, The Print Show 2024 in Birmingham brought together exhibitors, manufacturers, and industry professionals to showcase the latest technologies available to the industry, from digital and wide-format solutions to cutting-edge software and finishing systems. Our marketing team attended the show to experience first-hand the mission-critical technology our remote and field engineers support. We gained valuable insights into the products we service and maintain.
Here are our key takeaways from the show.
FujiFilm’s Grand Return
FujiFilm marked its return with the largest exhibitor stand, focusing on building relationships with new and existing customers. Eve Limeburner, European Workflow Solutions Manager, told us, “We’re showcasing our comprehensive range of digital, wide-format, and software solutions.” She explained that although FujiFilm’s presence at Drupa focused on packaging markets, their spotlight at The Print Show was on print-on-demand (POD) solutions. Eve added: “Footfall and interest from attendees are high, especially around our software offerings.”
Agfa: Innovation and Hybrid Technology
Agfa returned to the UK trade event sphere by introducing the Anapurna Ciervo, a robust hybrid printer offering significant speed and productivity improvements. James Argent, Sales Manager for Inkjet, expressed excitement about its launch: “The Anapurna Ciervo is 70% faster than previous models, and this is the first time we’re showcasing it in the UK.” Agfa’s presence generated considerable attention, particularly from businesses considering transitioning from roll-to-roll to hybrid printing technology that allows printing on flexible and rigid substrates. James added, “So far, we’ve been impressed with the quality of The Print Show. We’ve encountered good people to talk to and people who are actually looking to invest.”
Morgana Systems Bringing a Splash of Fun

Morgana Systems, part of the Plockmatic Group, stood out with its tropical-themed stand and collaboration involving eProductivity Software, FujiFilm, Konica Minolta and Antalis Paper. The company invited visitors to follow a workflow journey concluding at their stand with personalised products and a complimentary cocktail. On its stand, Morgana Systems showcased key launches, including the DigiFold Ultra, which features a creasing/folding machine and full-bleed trim capabilities. Plus, the ColorCut digital cutter with QR code auto-setups, providing a glimpse into next-level automation. “People are looking to diversify and open up revenue streams, and our entry-level solutions offer exactly that,” noted UK National Sales Manager Gavin Blakemore.
British Printing Industry Federation (BPIF): Advocating for the sector
The BPIF continued its tradition of supporting the sector at The Print Show, focusing this year on topics like environmental sustainability, particularly legislation including Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for packaging and the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). In addition, they discussed how to attract younger talent to the industry and address the skills gap. With training coordinators, research professionals, and membership support specialists on hand, BPIF contributed to essential conversations about the industry’s future.
swissQprint’s UK Debut
swissQprint debuted at The Print Show, showcasing its fastest flatbed printer, the KUDU, and drawing attention to its unique neon printing technology. Carmen Eicher, representing swissQprint, shared that their neon prints, which have become highly sought after in retail and events, were a standout feature of the show. “We are the only ones integrating neon in this way, and it has become a big hit in the UK,” she said, emphasising that solid R&D and partnerships with ink manufacturers drove the technology’s success. swissQprint’s Steve Pridham added, “Traditionally, The Print Show attracted more offset, litho, and smaller format customers, but the organisers have worked hard this year to reach those interested in our markets. Their efforts have paid off—we’ve had great conversations and met promising prospects. It’s important we invest in the right places, and with limited options in the UK, we believe we’ll return next year.”
Print Monthly: Celebrating a Successful Show
As the publisher of The Print Show, Print Monthly was delighted with the event’s success. Alex from the publication commented on the positive feedback from exhibitors, noting the high visitor turnout and engagement in the Knowledge Zone, where a panel of expert speakers addressed vital industry trends and challenges.
Overall, The Print Show 2024 offered an engaging platform for businesses to connect, exchange ideas, and explore new technologies. From hybrid printing solutions to innovative finishing systems and neon printing, the event underscored the industry’s continuous evolution and commitment to offering diverse, cutting-edge solutions to its clients.
