  1. The Aura Blockchain Consortium has reached a milestone of over 50 million registered luxury products. Aura uses blockchain technology to verify the authenticity and ownership of high-end goods. This achievement demonstrates the growing adoption of blockchain in the luxury industry. The consortium, founded by LVMH, Prada Group, and Richemont, aims to enhance transparency and trust in the market. With this achievement, Aura reinforces its position as a leader in luxury authentication and blockchain technology. Ben and Chris Twining, Head of Integrated Media at Stone Island, discuss this in detail in our fireside chat. Watch it here.
  2. Ford has patented a technology that enables targeted advertising in vehicles. The system uses microphones and AI to listen to the conversations between passengers, detecting keywords and interests. This data is then used to display personalised ads on screens within the car. The technology aims to create a more interactive and engaging experience for passengers. However, privacy concerns have been raised regarding using conversational data for advertising purposes. Ford has not yet announced any implementation plans, and the patent's future remains uncertain.
  3. Google has offered to sell part of its advertising technology business to address EU antitrust concerns. However, European Union publishers are unhappy with the proposal, stating it doesn't address their concerns about Google's dominance in the ad market. The EU has been investigating Google's ad tech practices, and publishers want more comprehensive changes to ensure fair competition. Google's offer includes selling its ad exchange and providing rivals access to its ad auction system, but publishers argue this doesn't go far enough to address their concerns about Google's market power.
  4. Tomi and Web3 Compass partner to revolutionise decentralised browsing, enabling secure and private web experiences. Their collaboration combines Tomi's decentralised network and Web3 Compass's navigation tools, promoting a more open and accessible internet. This partnership aims to empower users and foster innovation in the web3 space.
  5. Pixels has introduced Web3 farming, a decentralised platform that rewards users with cryptocurrency for contributing computing power. It delves into the concept, benefits, and potential of Web3 farming, highlighting its ability to monetize idle resources and promote decentralisation.
  6. Google Cloud and Solana Labs have launched GameShift, a Web3 gaming platform. GameShift aims to revolutionize the gaming industry by providing a scalable and secure infrastructure for building Web3-enabled games. The platform utilizes Solana's blockchain technology and Google Cloud's infrastructure to enable fast and seamless gaming experiences. GameShift will allow developers to create immersive games with play-to-earn mechanics, virtual assets, and decentralized finance (DeFi) integrations. This collaboration is expected to bridge the gap between traditional gaming and Web3 technology. It will enable new revenue streams and business models for game developers.
  7. Crypto Fest 2024, a Web3 innovation and culture celebration, is coming to Cape Town, South Africa. The event will feature keynote speakers, panels, art exhibits, and live performances, showcasing the convergence of technology, art, and music in the Web3 space. It's a unique experience for crypto enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
