The Recalibrate Series: How to Mentally Prepare for the Next New Normal

I'm going virtual for the next three Fridays and wanted to share a webinar series with you that will provide people some relief from the stress of these chaotic times. Many of us feel off balance and unsteady. The exposure to constant chaos and change can wear down even the steeliest leader. How do you keep your feet on the ground? How do your mind clear when the world around you is falling apart?

When the world is calm and at peace, showing a flair for leadership is simple. Challenges are minimal, and the path is often easy may be a time for some leaders to flourish but for others, leading in a time of adversity sparks the birth of impactful leaders.

True leaders are forged in the fires of strife and uncertainty. Those fires rage like an unextinguishable force – if you are unprepared, you may struggle with the sheer pressure. If you are bold, however, and rise to meet the challenge, you will emerge stronger and so will your team.

Aside from facing adversity, your mindset and outlook also have a huge impact. Did you know that humans who have a positive outlook and live peacefully, have on average a lifespan of 7.5 years longer? If this shocks you – it shows you understand the gravity of this simple statistic.

Understanding is one thing – changing your outlook and embracing a holistic, optimistic lifestyle is something completely different. It can be done. Furthermore, it can be done through a series of baby steps, and tiny shifts in the way we act and behave. There is no time like the present to implement these small changes as the world faces unprecedented challenges.

We must gently persevere through this global pandemic brought on by COVID-19. What started as a small outbreak in December 2019, has transformed into a worldwide situation. Millions of people are affected. The global economy has suffered, and people's lives are disrupted. Apart from the obvious disruptions, this global pandemic has also negatively impacted our productivity, prosperity, and ability to live normal lives. Could there be a better time to act and change your fortunes as the world seemingly crumbles around you?

As stated by the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control, “The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) may be stressful for people. Fear and anxiety about a disease can be overwhelming and cause strong emotions in adults and children. Coping with stress will make you, the people you care about, and your community stronger.”

To combat this, professional leadership coach Kelly Meerbott provides a wealth of resources during these troubling times. The aptly named webinar series, “The Recalibrate Series: How to Mentally Prepare for the next new normal” offers insight into improving your emotional wellbeing. Moreover, it helps change your mindset so that you can remain calm, positive and optimistic, even in the face of adversity.
