Rebuilding India After the COVID Crisis
As an entrepreneur, I understand that the last 3 months have been nothing less than an ordeal. From an overnight flight to the digital way of doing business to managing cash flows to keeping the morale high of the team, we are facing the heat at multiple fronts.
However, as an entrepreneur, I also firmly believe that these testing times will mirror a new era for Indian business & economy. Despite a visible amount of stress, signs are indicating a much powerful, dynamic & vibrant economy.
Manufacturing Powerhouse: As global manufacturers around the world are looking to diversify their supply chain, India is a formidable alternative.
Our infrastructure has improved notably over the years. Today we are building 30 KMs of highway each day. New business parks, industrial clusters, coastal business clusters are set up. Likewise, we are building railway corridors, shipping infrastructure & the aviation industry to seamlessly integrate with the global supply chain.
We are standing on surplus power and have an ample amount of technical know-how to further dovetail the manufacturing industry in a positive direction.
Digital Revolution: From digital content streaming to digital commerce, we are set for a digital revolution. The pandemic has taught millions of Indians to buy online. Online commerce, digital retail, Edutech, food delivery, online grocery, everywhere we can see new start-ups with innovative ideas thriving. Global giants like Facebook, Google, Amazon, Qualcomm & Intel also understand the potential of India and are betting big on the market.
Food Factory: This crisis has reinforced the need for vibrant food storage and processing industry. India already is one of the largest producers of grains, dairy, fruits & vegetables, coffee, tea, spices & numerous other food items. By upgrading our storage facilities, developing an agritech-enabled industry & integrating our supply lines with the global grid, we can transform ourselves into the food factory of the world.
This will boost our rural economy, generate millions of new employments, & support other ancillary industries.
Indian economy might have strains at the moment, but its long-term potential is bright. All we need to do is to have the prerequisite confidence & strive hard. In these testing times, everyone, from the government to businesses to individuals has to work hard. If we are working 40 Hrs a week, then let’s try to put 60. If we are working 60 Hrs a week, then maybe we can add a bit more. Through our concentrated, committed & constant efforts we can turn this crisis into a blessing. Jai Hind!
