The Importance of Rebranding

I had a convo with a client a few days ago about how attached they were with their old logo and the imagery. It hit my heart and my anxiety overwhelmed me. I did not want to be too hard on how important it is to rebrand. I know what my job is as a graphic designer. Change is for the better sometimes. It is my job to give constructive criticism. If I didn't I would not be doing my job and what I am passionate about.
Some thoughts that came to mind were how hard it is to rebrand after you have had a logo for so long. There are memories, attachments and people follow and recognize it. Sometimes business owners think that their logo is amazing and they may not need a graphic designer to help or expertise to take them from one level to a higher level. This definitely can help their income and bottom line too. I had a business that rebranded take in a 30% increase in revenue since they rebranded.
In some cases, logos are created with the intention that its the be-all and end-all. In these cases, they do not follow some key points of graphic design such as legibility, timelessness, or simplicity. One of the most important goal of a logo will always remain this – to identify the person, product, business or service. If it is designed right from the get-go sometimes small improvements will need to be done down the line but the main idea will not drastically change.
I have shared some import rebrands I have done while freelancing on my page, check them out. In some cases they were hard but changes had to be made. I hope you see a difference that the initial brands portrayed and with my help we establish goals that produced a more desirable mark.
