Rebooting my LinkedIn Presence

Rebooting my LinkedIn Presence

I have been on LinkedIn for many years. Almost 2 decades. I've accumulated over 500 connections and I am grateful for my 2,177 followers thus far. I've never really maximized LinkedIn nor offered my network a lot -- apart from occasional news, milestones and updates on projects I'm currently working on. I know. Very one-sided.

So 3 months before the new year's resolutions flood our newsfeeds, I found myself spending more time on LinkedIn and observing its Analytics section--with the intention of understanding who engages with my posts, views my profile or the keywords used to find me on this platform--and HOW I CAN BE OF HELP.

I may be too late in the game but this platform has helped me connect with and acquire new clients and stay in contact with colleagues. 28 years of work experience can definitely expand one's community.

I cannot count how many articles I have read, or how many hours of podcasts I have consumed over the years about how companies and professionals use LinkedIn for marketing. To me it comes in waves. I obviously procrastinated longer than I care to admit.

So here is my simple 4-step checklist on changing my routine and making LinkedIn a daily habit.

  1. I can do better by being more proactive. My friend, Eli Harrell has done a fantastic job at gathering Founders of companies and publishing business content on #ProductsWithPurpose. I appreciate his approach to sharing stories and inspiration behind product development. I am inspired to follow his footsteps. ;-)

  1. I can be more targeted and intentional in growing my sphere. Answering the 'Who, where, when, what, how and why' connect with groups, communities and individuals. What common interests, shared advocacies and experiences do I have with the people in this sphere?
  2. I can participate and join (or start) a conversation. The last two years have left me more digitally connected than ever. Countless stories and online encounters around events, webinars, online meetups and catch-ups... Checking in with people and finding out what they are up to today is a great start.

4. I can offer to help by answering questions whenever I can--or provide resources, bridge connections where possible. Thousands of contacts, so much talent. There is always a way to refer people to other people.

Let's connect!
