Reasons why you should utilise your Levy

1.      Inclusion – Typically Apprenticeships have been used by companies recruiting new staff and upskilling younger workers, due to the age restrictions that used to apply. Many workers over the age of 25 felt there was an inequality and were not as valued by their company as they did not have access to the same opportunities. The new standards allows you to utilise your funding for learners of all ages within all job roles.

2.      Improved employee engagement – If an employee feels as though the company, they work for is dedicated to upskilling and providing opportunities for development it can boost moral and productivity, reduce absenteeism and improve staff retention.

3.       Standards – The new standards allow employers to tailor their Apprenticeships around the specific job role to make the qualification more relevant to their place of work. A qualification cannot be a one size fits all as each company is different. Standards allow more flexibility in the delivery which is beneficial for both the employer and the learner.

4.      Support your supply chain – Did you know that if you are struggling to utilise all your levy you can provide additional funding to your supply chain to train their staff. Why would you do this? Firstly, if you don’t use it you lose it so surely, it’s better than someone benefits? The more skilled your supply chain are the better quality you would expect their outputs to be regardless of whether you work in production or service delivery. And by providing training to your supply chain you are strengthening your relationship which you would expect to increase the loyalty they have to you as a customer.
