My reasons to be grateful for 2022

I’ve spent time travelling again, and I am so grateful.

I have been energised by the face-to-face connections and quality time with friends and colleagues. After the previous years of working from home, I see that these in-person cross-cultural experiences add much colour and flavour to our relationships and life in general.?

Flying is often my ‘thinking time’, an imposed pause in an otherwise hectic schedule. Just last week I had what I would call a flight of reflection and gratitude as I travelled home to Italy following an amazing market visit to South Africa.

2022 has been a year like no other. We have faced incredible challenges from pandemic, war, extreme weather events, volatility, inflation, and huge market uncertainty. I have never seen a year like it.

But I have also seen strength, resilience, determination, and great opportunities for learning. It has not been easy, but we have learned how to cope.

In the midst of managing tremendous challenge, we created our new consumer health company. Watching the name Haleon appear on the ticker at the London Stock Exchange was one of my proudest moments. While we are now just six months old, we have succeeded to deliver a great year, a solid foundation for the future.

This is a team achievement. During my visits with our leaders and teams across EMEA and LatAm, I have seen first-hand the effort, commitment, and passion of my colleagues to make Haleon a success. Daily, I see their focus and collaboration to grow our brands and do things better. I have much to be grateful for.?

While we are a new company, we arrived in July with an amazing legacy of much-loved and category leading brands. Global heroes like Panadol, Sensodyne, Voltaren and Centrum. Local stars including?Grand Pa, deeply rooted in the culture of consumers in South Africa and BeTotal, a key feature of every Italian childhood. What a gift to be thankful for.????

These brands touch the lives of millions of consumers around the world, supporting people to take?better care of their everyday health. Self-care has never been so relevant as it is today. Healthcare systems globally are dealing with huge challenges compounded by the last few years of pandemic. I am grateful to know that our company can make a positive difference to the health of individuals, their families and their wider community.???

My gratitude list would not be complete without mentioning my family. My often-hectic work and travel schedule would not be possible without their support and understanding. Time with my family is my self-care strategy. My kids keep me in check. We rarely talk about my work. When I am with them, I am just dad and more and more often: Taxi Dad!?

So as a challenging 2022 draws to a close, my reflection is that my cup is already full and I have much to be grateful for. To my family, my colleagues and supporters, I say a big thank you from my heart.?Let’s enjoy the break and get ready for 2023!
