Is This The Reason You Are Planning To Fail Without Knowing?

The hardest part of being an entrepreneur is keeping track of all the great—and not so great—ideas you have. All day long, you come up with different ways to be more successful, yet only about 1% of them come to fruition.

Why is that?

Unfortunately, most of those half-thought-out strategies go in one ear and out the other because they’re not properly accounted for. If you want to accomplish your goals, you need a system to capture them as they come and a plan of action to make them happen.

“It’s only a dream until you write it down, then it’s a goal.” —Emmitt Smith

So how do you come up with a solid plan?

1. Get clear on EXACTLY what you want to achieve. ??

Until you’re crystal clear on the results you want, you’ll struggle to reach any level of success. If you’re too vague—like saying “I’d like to make more money”—the universe might give you an extra $10. While that’s enough for lunch, it’s not the kind of money you meant. Get clear on what “more” really means for you.

2. Work backward from your goal. ??

Now that you have a clear vision of what you want, break down the step-by-step process of what needs to get done to reach your goal. Think about potential alternative routes to the same destination. Are there easier, faster, or less work-intensive paths? Consider these before choosing your plan. And remember, keep the steps small and actionable. Overwhelming yourself is a surefire way to fail faster.

3. Set firm timelines. ?

You know what needs to get done, but how long will you give yourself to do it? Establish firm timelines for reaching each step of the process. Without deadlines, you’re operating blind. Prioritize tasks based on how long they’ll take or how much effort they’ll require. Give yourself ample time to avoid stress, but start with the harder tasks. Knocking those out first will boost your confidence and keep momentum going.

4. Take action! ??

The last and most important step on your plan is always taking action. A plan that isn’t executed is just a list of things to do—and those tend to pile up and become wasted potential. You already know you have what it takes to be successful—or you wouldn’t be reading this. So get out there and do what you’ve got to do to make it happen!
