When most people think about the word, ‘bondage’ they tend to think about physical bondage, i.e. being captured, enslaved, or jailed. However, I believe MENTAL BONDAGE is a worse fate because mental bondage is the enslavement of the mind.
Mental bondage is when a person has limiting beliefs around reaching their desires or achieving their goals. It is literally a block in your mind that is telling you that you “can’t” be free to move forward and create a life that you love.
Mental bondage is what can hold you back from even allowing yourself to DREAM.
For so many women that I work with, mental bondage stems from childhood experiences in which they were told what they “could not do” or “could not be” or “could not have”.
As they developed into adults those seeds that were planted grew and took take over their minds.

If you are struggling to get past mental bondage here are 3 tips to help you move forward and shake off those mental chains.
1. Don’t second guess yourself; when you second guess every decision you make you reinforce those old beliefs that told you “you don’t know what you are doing” or “ you are not good enough” or “you are not talented enough” etc. When those old beliefs come up, interrupt the thought pattern and tell yourself you know what is best for you and you trust your own decisions.
2. Create daily affirming mantras. Start affirming what you can do and what you are capable of doing. Using daily affirmations or mantras help you to reprogram your mind to start seeing your potential and infinite possibilities. You can start with simple affirmations such as “I am capable of doing anything I want”, “I am talented”, “I can achieve anything I desire”.
3. Challenge yourself to try something new that you have never done before. Step outside of your comfort zone and do something that you may never have believed you could. The idea is to force your mind to see that you have what it takes to do anything. The feeling of newness also helps to push yourself out of the feeling of being “stuck”.
