The Reason for a Vision
The world has made a great progress in transforming areas and lifting many people out of poverty.
The quality of lives for many people have improved dramatically in the past several decades and especially so in Asia including Indonesia where we are based.
A lot of that was due to people with vision which they brought into realities.
What’s vision and what’s behind vision?
Vision is a picture of a possible future which can be accomplished, which may become a reality.
For it to be a vision, it should not be based on one person’s ego.
It should be based also on the benefits which many other people can also have if and when that becomes a reality. Then naturally the person(s) with the vision also benefit so that they can do more of that. In process that gradually creates a virtuous cycle.
In the context of property development, a developer should also have the care and heart for their surroundings.
Therefore, their vision can also include what their surrounding area can become.
One such example we shared with a community before was about a possible traffic design which take into account the well-being of the other stakeholders as well as the public.
With that in mind we allocated some time by our design team to come up with a proposed design. The hope of that design was that it could brighten the area as a whole and make it a far more attractive investment destination.
As to us, we have stake in the economic progress of the area too. But we are not at all the biggest by balance sheet size. We do, however, have ideas. That’s why we contribute it to the best of our abilities and capacity.
Not all vision can become reality but we just keep going. The illustration of vision we share just now may or may not become a reality.
But that is only one example. So that is OK. In life we accept that we do not always get what we want. The same with anyone in this world. Sometimes we can get what we want or what we suggest to people, sometimes we cannot. Some ideas are accepted, some are not. That’s life. We just accept gracefully and keep going.
Life itself is a long journey where we can contribute other things along that path which we hope can benefit many people as we do our business and investments.
