REASON I LOVE THE CONCEPT BEHIND THE CHILD-FRIENDLY EDUCATION OF UNICEF
In Primary School 1999, my class Teacher then a very Creative man Employed different methods to make learning interesting to us.
Learning French as a Language was terrifying to me and other Colleagues.
HIS STRATEGY WAS ;
- A conducive classroom
-He succeeded in making all class sessions fun filled.
-He knew all of us personally (Strengths, Weaknesses etcetera)
-He allowed us play around with words in French, though we where not pronouncing them right
-Both Girls and Boys enjoyed equal freedom with no restriction.
Our class seemed peaceful and that made us feel safe to Learn.
It is pathetic that most children in Public schools in Nigeria, West Africa Today hardly come across such Teachers.
THE UNICEF CONCEPT IS SIMPLY THIS :
Schools should operate in the best interests of the child.
They should be designed and run in a way that ensures that all children can learn in
a safe, healthy, secure, stimulating and protected environment.
The CFE approach focusses on the total needs of the child as a learner
so that the student can develop his or her full potential. The goal
throughout is to promote child-centred education with teachers who are
trained accordingly.

7 年It is exciting to know the special needs and peculiarities of children are becoming prioritized. CFE is a concept of differentiated learning where the unique need and adaptability of each learner is put to focus. Knowing that learning and assimilation rates are different, we can introduce different methods of learning such as group learning, games, simulations etc into curricula. Through CFE, we appreciate and play to the strengths of learners, rather than their weaknesses. Thanks for sharing.
