Reason #13 - Charitable Giving Champions
Making Los Angeles a better place to live is the duty and responsibility of every member of the community. As public servants, County employees know that we have a unique duty and opportunity to make a real impact on the quality of life for the communities we serve. This year, the County of Los Angeles celebrates a 40-year legacy of giving through its Charitable Giving Campaign (CGC). For the last four decades, County employees have opened their hearts and wallets, and commit...ted time and resources to benefit local charitable organizations.
To ensure that these voluntary funds are best put to use in our community, the County partners with seven Board-approved Fund Distribution Agencies (FDA): Asian Pacific Community Fund, Brotherhood Crusade, Community Health Charities, EarthShare California, United Latino Fund, United Way, and Variety the Children’s Charity. To become a County partner, each FDA must distribute employee donations to a minimum of 15 local non-profit agencies directly serving the Los Angeles County. Employees are also provided with the opportunity to donate, through voluntary payroll deductions or one-time gifts, to direct-service organizations (such as the Boys and Girls Club, American Red Cross, Hispanic Scholarship Fund, etc.) providing much needed services in the Los Angeles area.
Over the past 40 years, our employees have proven themselves to be charitable giving champions! In 2017, Los Angeles County employees surpassed our $1 million goal by 10%, raising $1,065,660.76 for community service organizations providing services here in Los Angeles County. This year, the County has set our highest bar for fundraising to date, with the goal of raising $1,200,000!
