Realty 2024: A sneak preview on some conference topics
Realty Belgium
Realty, Belgium's Real Estate Summit | 17-18 September 2024 | Gare Maritime - Brussels
On 17 and 18 September, the 16th edition of the real estate summit 'Realty' will take place at the Gare Maritime in Brussels. Following the annual tradition, top national and international speakers will be there to inspire you with their vision on real estate and the challenges facing the sector. Through our newsletters, we would like to give you some insights and look ahead to the leading event on real estate in our country. Below, we offer you a sneak preview.
Affordable housing is under pressure
As ever, Belgians still dream of owning their own home, but that hope is becoming a pipe dream for more and more of their countrymen. Buying an energy-efficient home has gradually become unaffordable in a market that moves at different speeds. Prices are soaring in the city centres, so house hunters are deliberately looking to the cheaper suburbs. Leuven has taken the crown for years and is by far the most expensive city in Belgium to live in. Former journalist and real estate expert Patrick Luysterman will therefore interview Leuven's mayor Mohamed Ridouani and his Kortrijk colleague Vincent Van Quickenborne. How do they see their (expensive) city and what is their plan to keep housing affordable and thus stop an urban exodus?

Sustainable reconversion as the ultimate tool for urban development?
250 to 400 billion euros: that is the amount that the National Bank calculated would be needed to make the Belgian housing stock energy efficient - with an EPC score of no more than 100 - by 2050. There is no doubt that sustainability is needed. But at what price? The real estate sector is increasingly focusing on sustainable reconversion and renovation of buildings and circularity during the construction process. None other than experts from PMV, ULI and?Anders B?hlke, Academic Director EMI at the University of Saint-Louis, will inspire those present using practical examples. Jan Peter Balkenende ,?minister of state in the Netherlands, will also be able to enthuse you. For years, he has been pioneering sustainability in the Netherlands, motivating business and the real estate sector to engage in sustainable entrepreneurship. Curious about his golden tips for a greener future?

Real estate sector can no longer ignore AI
Artificial intelligence is becoming more and more evident in our daily lives and our work places. We no longer question automatic facial recognition to unlock your smartphone, online chatbots or ChatGPT to write a speech. AI has also found its way into the real estate sector, which until recently was very analogue. At Realty we will explore the opportunities of AI for real estate professionals.
