Really? Waste is "not so important"?
After a short discussion with a prospective about software functionalities, he told me that optimised cutting paths and a high quality nesting is not so important for him. He prefers to buy cheap components and he doesn't care if the production loses a few cm^2 of fabric per marker.
On the other hand, we had a private talk about his new solar panels on his "climate neutral house".
Therefore I've seen the chance to convince him with ecological aspects. So I planned to find an overview about "how much oil and water the world has to sweat to produce one cm^2 of fabric?"
But after writing down 5 sheets of paper with some incredible high numbers from different studies:
- 2 700l water / T-Shirt, 2 000 000 000 T-shirts per year
- 53 000 000 tons of polyster/year for textile, 70 000 m^3 water/ton of polyester
- billions of shipping kilometers of the oil, the yarns, fabrics and products
- ... and so on
it was clear to me that it should be easy to convince him of the importance of a modern and professional software to get the best out of a machine. And I have to admit: My view on that subject has also sharpened!
I love machine and love to work for industry. But: Let's do it in a wise way.
