Really easy solution to Australia's rising cost of living

They cripple drivers at the bowser and increase costs across the entire economy. To families struggling to budget for both food and petrol, the situation is dire but there is a simple, no-brainer solution to Australia's astronomical fuel prices. It comes down to taxes.

As Australians struggle to keep up with the cost of living under ever-growing petrol prices, the Federal Government is making a profit. A massive portion of the price of petrol is made up of nothing other than taxes; the fuel excise tax alone costing drivers close to 50 cents a litre. Every time somebody fills up their average 63-litre car, close to $30 disappears in taxes.

The Australian Taxpayers' Alliance is pressuring the government to read the room and slash this regressive tax to give the economy a chance to recover and to relieve working families of unnecessary costs. We know politicians don't make it easy for voters to reach them (though sometimes they make an exception around election time...) and it's a rare person who has the time to track down contact details and explain to politicians why taxes that make it difficult for people to travel to work are bad.
