How often have you thought, "why do I have such bad luck" or something very similar?
I'm not denying that luck, both good and bad, exists. I am just asking you to question whether any set backs you suffer are down to bad luck or something else.
I have been made redundant on 3 occasions in my working life. Each time I felt it was a result of bad luck. In retrospect each time was as a result of market changes and on 2 of those occasions, I was in a position where I was aware that the market was changing, but stayed in place in the hope that I would survive the cuts. It wasn't bad luck. It was bad judgement.
I used to help people who were looking for work. Many of them felt that bad luck was stopping them getting the jobs that others in the same group were getting. Examining their resume's and covering letters along with the amount of effort they were applying. Suggested it was a mixture of lack of aptitude and the wrong attitude.
We all suffer setbacks in life. Some we cannot control, but many we can.
If something goes wrong, before you just put it down to bad luck. Analyse the situation and give an honest answer to the question "was there something I could have done differently?
