Is it really all about YOU?

The Perspective Catalyst .. bringing empowering immersive street theater programs to your stage!
When your face graces the cover of a book, it's easy to assume that you are more important than the message within. And when your larger-than-life image dominates the opening slide of a presentation, it's hard not to believe that you take precedence over the message itself.
I've encountered countless justifications for this phenomenon. Some speakers and authors choose to use their own image for all personal and business branding. They refer to themselves in the third person and even write posts and comments using their own name when speaking from their perspective. While this approach may suit some individuals, it can be disconcerting. In fact, when naming a company, conventional advice suggests avoiding the use of your own name, unless, of course, you are a celebrity or have plans to sell the business in the future.
Of course, the decision lies entirely in your hands. But consider this: the belief that you will be remembered longer than your message may hint at a touch of narcissism. Is that too blunt? Well, for some, it might be. Particularly if they've never looked at the situation from this vantage point. It may stir up a bit of discomfort, a prick to the ego. And if you find it difficult to overcome that twinge of pain, then perhaps it's best to stop reading and move on.

Remember, it's not about glorifying yourself, but rather about leveraging your voice to inspire, educate, and empower others.

1 年My mentor! ???? In the football (also know as soccer) world, when players want to congratulate in social media another player or a club for achieving something, for some reason they always put a photo of themselves. I always saw that as narcisistic and the idea I read from it is “it’s about me, not what I’m saying”. Great writing Trevor!
