Reality - the original innovation

Reality - the original innovation

Just when we thought 2023 couldn't get any more dystopian, Apple marches in with its latest innovation: the Apple Vision Pro - an ultra-advanced virtual/augmented reality headset that promises to catapult us into the digital twilight zone. Apple claims to enhance your reality, but one can't help but question: At what cost?

After years of watching episodes of Black Mirror, I'm fairly convinced that Charlie Brooker has a time machine. Or, at the very least, Silicon Valley has been using his dark tech anthology as a product development roadmap. The new Apple Vision Pro has me convinced we're one step closer to living in a Black Mirror episode.?

The headset's launch promises a future where the physical and virtual blur, and the concept of reality becomes as customizable as a playlist on your favorite streaming app. All from the comfort of your home. The dawn of 'Real Life 2.0' – just like in the Black Mirror episode 'San Junipero'. Is that an upgrade we want?

Apple promises a better tomorrow, with improved productivity and a more immersive entertainment experience. Who needs reality when you can virtually travel to Paris, Rome, or Mars during your lunch break? But this leaves me wondering, what happens to good old-fashioned reality? Will we become digital hermits, trapped in our own hyper-personalized virtual worlds, forgetting the beauty of natural human interaction??

My skepticism rises with each new tech announcement, and I worry about a society where we will lose ourselves in an ocean of pixels, swapping heartfelt conversations for an emoji-filled chat room, trading sunsets for screen time, and sunrises for software updates.?

As we fast forward to this brave new world, remember to pause and appreciate the reality that technology can't replicate – the messy, unpredictable, and beautiful life that unfolds when we unplug. After all, reality, with all its flaws, is the most original innovation we have.

Exactly. We're missing out on the most original innovation – which updates itself in real-time!
