Reality check!

The book 'The matter with things’ is about the brain, the author postulates a hypothesis about how the left hemisphere and the right hemisphere work and relate to one another and how we as human beings perceive reality. Iain McGilchrist's thesis, his knowledge about evolution & working of the brain and his insight, confirmed my view of how I see reality and helped me to make my personal puzzle more complete. His book encouraged me to wright this article and express my intuition or insight. This article addresses life questions such as; Where am I, who am I, how does it work? I hope that my creative, overseeing Right Hemisphere (RH) in cooperation with my analytic, narrow Left Hemisphere (LH) has managed to putt my view into words that will sparkle your imagination. Maybe his book and this post will help to alter your perspective on ‘reality’. Iain closes his book with a quote from the seventeenth century priest Angelus Silesius, it goes as follows; "Friend, that is sureley enough. And should you want read more, then go and become yourself the words, and yourself the Being.” Like Iain I have put this gesture into words and wrote this article, hopefully it will help the reader to raise awareness about ‘reality’.

LH analitical and mainly in the past or future -- RH allways present in the now -- we need both to see/explain reality!

Iain McGilchrist book helped me strengthen my own 'hypothesis of the funnel'. Ian states in his book that the LH and RH can work independently but cannot work without each other. The two halves are connected in the centre of the brain (corpus callosum). You could think of this connection as a funnel where information can flow from left to right and from right to left. Since the connection is narrow, the brain has over time (due to the increase of complexity) simplified the communication between the two hemispheres. The LH can autonomously devise and articulate things without checking it with the RH. The LH makes a representation of the future and/or the past without verifying reality with the RH. The LH is in a virtual world and the RH in the real world. I am aware of the fact that I draw my conclusion based on the use of both my hemispheres. With the RH I am aware of where I am and with the LH I describe my (in)sight. I believe that every person has a unique awareness. I believe that a proper collective reality can only be achieved when other people relate to the individual picture that is presented within one brain. After putting the insight into words we can start a conversation about it. For example, I am aware that my limited brain offers me a limited perspective on reality. My position in time and space, my point of view into the cosmos is my personal level of consciousness. Despite my seemingly separate self, I know that I am connected to everything around me and thinking that am a separate organism in the cosmos is false. The organism (me) has been given a name 'Gean'. Gean is a manmade illusion and I am definitely not a separate organism. Separateness is an illusion, we need illusions, concepts and metaphors to realize that a lot that we think we see is just illusion. When more people realize their temporary illusionary existence, a different worldview or perspective on reality will arise. With a altered perspective we will start to make different choices as individuals, as an community and as a whole. With this article I want to share my (in)sight with the reader. I hope that my creative RH in cooperation with my analytical LH has managed to putt my view into words that will sparkle your imagination and will change your perspective on ‘reality’.

Curiosity killed the...??

Nine out of ten people will put the word 'cat' on the dots because the saying is 'curiosity killed the cat'. Where does the saying come from and what can we learn from it? Scientists discovered in the early twentieth century that particles (neutrons) under certain conditions behave like waves and that waves can behave like particles. Wave-particle dualism is an inexplicable phenomenon in physics and quantum mechanics. In addition to this phenomenon it seems that the person making the observation influences the behaviour of the particle and/or wave. In other words, if you don't observe, it could be a particle or a wave. Experiments also revealed that particles that were physically distant appear to be entangled. If a change is observed in one particle, it affects the other particle spontaneously without any time delay. This direct entanglement of the widely spaced particles is inexplicable. Everything we perceive, including ourselves, consists of particles and/or waves. What does this mean for our understanding of ourselves and the universe? Within science, there is no consensus on the implication of the wave particle dualism. There are currents in which it is found that the existence of a particle is not even really certain until it is observed. To illustrate this, the physicist Erwin Schr?dinger devised a thought experiment and it goes like this; A cat is locked in a box together with a tube containing a tiny bit of a radioactive element. If an atom of the element decays, a Geiger counter detects that and drops a hammer via a relay, which smashes a bottle with hydrocyanic acid. (the decay of a radioactive atom is the physicochemical phenomenon that changes the atomic nucleus spontaneously). You could say that the cat lives as long as no atom has decayed. The box is a closed system. The only way to determine if the cat is alive or dead is to look inside the box. As a curious observer, you determine the fate of the cat. If we assume that a particle does not necessarily exist until it is observed, then it is not certain if the hammer has fallen. According to Schr?dinger there is only one conclusion to be drawn; as long as you don't look inside the box the cat is both alive and dead at the same time. That's where the saying 'curiosity killed the cat' comes from. The famous physicist Stephen Hawking believes that this thought experiment places irresponsible emphasis on the role of the observer. Logically, there is no uncertainty for the cat whether he is alive or dead. So the uncertainty is only with the observer. There is no definitive consensus among physicists on this thought experiment.?

With the above in mind, I want to take a closer look at the observer. This time I do not put the obvious word cat on the dots but the following sentence; curiosity killed the ego and ignorance killed the eco. If you're curious about where you are, who you are and how things work, if you sincerely try to look at it, you will start to see yourself differently. In short, your ego will disappear. You're likely to become more aware of your surroundings and that you're an inseparable part of it. The short-sightedness or ignorance of where we are, who we are and how things work changes, instead of being unconscious we become aware. Due to our ignorance and unconscious destructive behaviour, the ecosystem becomes out of balance. Should the ecosystem on earth die, a (eco)system will remain, but we as a species will be no longer part of it. As a species we have destroyed the very biodiversity where we depend upon. The saying I came up with; 'ignorance killed de eco' is written in the past tense as if the eco system is no longer there. Fortunately, this is not yet the case. The ecosystem has weakened, but I believe it is still strong enough to recover. The saying as I would like to read it in future time is as follows; Curiosity killed the ego an awareness saved the eco.?

How can we investigate? ourselves and what is awareness? Where are we in this infinite universe??I like to start the search with the following thesis; A human being is like a black hole and unaware of hidden dimensions. Man sees only a limited fraction of reality without realizing it. The experienced reality is to a large extent a story that has been invented by man and far from real. In other words; man sees only a small part and invents his own 'reality' to a large extent.

I use words to clarify the above thesis, the thesis of course is also just words. Words are labels we use to communicate. However, a word is also a limitation or simplification of something that is actually very complex. As soon as you name something, it loses its purity, power and complexity. We need words to describe and share things. The difficulty is that I describe something that we cannot see but where we can be aware of. A human being is an organism in a nonlinear dynamic system. We assume that after conception, consciousness arises somewhere during the growth of the organism. During the first years of a person's life, consciousness is mainly active in the 'now' or present moment. Through interaction with the environment and the awareness of the environment a separated self comes into being. One could say that the self-image of the organism arises. From the moment the self-image and image of the environment arises, it seems relatively stable. However in reality a human being is a nonlinear dynamic system, living in a nonlinear system all the time. Through our false awareness of separation the human being is being fooled and starts to believe it's separateness. It's given a name and it's starts to believe the stories told by the people around him/her. From the moment of the false realization of a subject (me) and an object (the world) an expectation of reality arises. You could say that our consciousness makes an estimate or a desire of what the future reality should look like. The?organism or consciousness is able to look into the past and consciously keep memories in his/her mind. The desire for something that was or something that should arise in the future is growing. Craving to change reality to something that our virtual reality wants could make a person anxious, angry and depressed. The person might say “This not how I want reality to be! I want it to be like this!”. Every human has a unique reality, but there is also a shared reality. For instance we both see and experience the moon. As soon as a person or organism dies, his/her consciousness disappears. The general or overall consciousness (the moon and everything else) is still there. The people that ‘stay behind’ still see the dead body of their loved one. The dead organism or his/her consciousness is apparently no longer consciously part of the non-linear dynamic system.?

A human being is like a black hole and unaware of hidden dimensions. A black hole is something that we cannot see but recently can observe, sounds contradictory but it’s true. Recently, scientists have been able to fabricate a mathematical image of a black hole based on invisible gravitational waves. A black hole is said to be so strong that nothing can escape from it, not even light that from the human perspective is the fastest thing that exists. Yet the black hole also emits something, we have detected gravitational waves. These waves are invisible to the human eye. If we didn't detect these gravitational waves we were not be able to calculate the black hole mathematically. We believe that man is looking into the world and sees reality. But for the sake of the argument, I want to turn it around. Humans swallow up the world with his/her senses, everything he/she sees, hears, smells, tastes/eats or feels disappears into the person and never comes out, at least not the way it went in. The person influences his/her environment or reality with his/her thoughts, emotions and behaviour (consciously or unconsciously). We influence reality on an individual and collective level. With this statement you can see an individual human being as a gateway, a split that goes both ways. 'Reality' is experienced by man and the 'reality' is determined by man. In fact man is one with reality. Most people are not aware of this unity. Reality is always in the present moment and extremely fleeting. The present moment never stands still and is constantly changing. The present moment moves incredible fast it's almost impossible for a human being to comprehend this speed. Yet a person can become aware of the complexity and dynamics of the present moment. Jesus and Buddha were aware of the unity, entanglement and/or complexity of the present moment. You can call the present moment; life, evolution, god or whatever... Life, evolution or god are just words whereupon man tries to express himself/herself. Man tends to see himself/herself as separate and generally thinks that he/she is not part of nature and his/her environment. This believe is an illusion. Man sees himself as the observer of something that exists outside of him/her. The ever-changing present moment is beautifully expressed is the fractal film below.??

Mandelbrot. Thanks to the computer, physicist/mathematician Benoit Mandelbrot was able to determine, as an observer, that reality is constantly changing and was able to capture this into an equation. He called his discovery a fractal. His mathematical equation is part of the chaos theory. Chaos theory is the popular name for the field of mathematics that investigates the behaviour of nonlinear dynamical systems. As I mentioned before, a human being is part of this non-linear dynamic or chaotic system. A still image of a fractal looks like a snapshot of the ever-changing reality (the still picture or snapshot is an illusion because reality never stands still, even a picture or snapshot is always moving). Fractals are incredibly complex and beautiful to look at. They are infinite and go on and on, similar to life that goes on, and on and on... The problem we have as humans is our ignorance, we are unaware of our place in the infinite chain of the fractal. We are not the observer we believe ourselves to be. If you look at moving fractals, it seems as if you are looking at something from a fixed place of perception. In a way you could say that that's the case but while looking at the moving fractal, you yourself are part of it.?

Until recently, we could not see or perceive gravitational waves. Man with his/her limited senses sees only a small part of the entire spectrum of what is going on in the universe. We call this small part our reality. Scientists think that man can only observe 5% of the matter/energy that is out there in the universe. So 95% we are not able to observe or perceive. During the course of evolution we constantly gain new insights, the black hole is a good example. Until relatively recent we know that black hole's exists, slowly but surely the black hole becomes less black. As I indicated at the beginning of my explanation, we use the limitation of language to communicate our view. This also applies for describing consciousness. If you are aware of the fact that you are part of something bigger, you will look at things differently. We label awareness or sensations with the word 'consciousness'. What is 'consciousness'? The metaphor of the radio is a beautiful way to explain consciousness. You cannot see or touch the signal. If you take the radio apart, you will never find the signal as a part of the radio. You can't grab the radio signal, it's not tangible. Consciousness isn't tangible either. Consciousness is receiving information and sending information. For me consciousness is intuition and intention, it is trust, it is faith and it is knowing something without being able to explain it rationally. Consciousness is ‘doing good’ based on feeling. Where is consciousness in man? Is it in your gut, in the heart, in the brain or is it something that exists outside of us? Is consciousness a dimension where we know little about? Is there, as Carl Jung puts it, a collective consciousness? Is consciousness, like matter, space and time, something that is always there? Is consciousness part of the individual, is it collective or both? I believe in a holistic universe where everything is connected. The word individual suggests that the person is a standalone entity, separate from his/her environment. In my view individuality is an illusion. This is in line with what Jesus and Buddha said; the 'self' or 'ego' don't exist. It was Jesus who said 'love your neighbour as yourself', because we are one and the same.?

Personally I think that consciousness is a (fourth) dimension and always present. Consciousness are thoughts that pop up in the brain, it is the voice in your head that makes you see or understand things. When an person act's from the limited self-image, (the limitation is that he/she believes there is a subject/object) he/she will probably take actions that benefits the person or the group where the person belongs to. That might be good for the individual or the small group but could be harmful for another person, group or the world at large. As stated the individual or small group is part of the hole so the action(s) taken in benefit for themselves might, in the end, be bad for themselves. Perhaps the person or group will benefit in short-term but not on the long run. If everything is connected actions of a small group could in the end be disastrous without realizing it. Due to this short-sightedness the person or group is working on his/her own demise without realizing it. If you take conscious actions from the awareness of the connection with everything and everyone, the reality will correspond with the good intentions and the hole will benefit. Our world will start to become more beautiful if you choose your actions based upon love for life in general. You could call that loving intention, god, divine frequency or whatever you like to call it. When you take actions with the right intentions, the world/reality will bend and become beautiful. The words written above are finger pointing at consciousness or god because its magnitude can't be expressed in language. Consciousness is an inexplicable knowing. We humans think we are living in a three-dimensional world and through the memory and/or the predictive ability of our brains it seems as if we can look back at history and look forward in time and predict what the world will looked like in the future. The ability to remember and have foresight isn't 'pure' consciousness. In my opinion, pure consciousness is always in the now and cannot make predictions. Every human being has a certain degree of consciousness. With our body and mind we can make representations of the future or look back into the past. Consciousness in itself can’t do that, consciousness needs man for that. On the other hand, a person cannot look into the pure present moment because it is extremely fleeting. Pure consciousness is an ever-changing fractal. How can we fathom consciousness? A rational approach doesn't work, consciousness isn't matter. The current scientific paradigm focuses on matter and the human laws of nature fall short. How can we investigate a non-physical phenomenon? There is no single definition of consciousness. When I search the internet, I get a lot of information and definitions, it differs per discipline how consciousness is described. According to the Dutch dictionary consciousness is; 'The awareness of something’ and ‘The realization, knowledge of existence of something and/or of a self'. This definition doesn’t give clarity because realizing something is a subjective perception that we cannot objectively prove. Actually, we don't know what consciousness is. Every level of consciousness is unique and yet we live in a world where we perceive each other and our joint environment. The conclusion must be that there is a collective consciousness. Is consciousness something that is experienced through the perceptions of our senses in our central nervous system. In other words, is consciousness a product of the senses? Or is consciousness a product of brain activity that we perceive with our senses. Or is consciousness something that exists outside of ourselves? Is it intuition and/or imagination? Are we a kind of receiver who receive information in the brain without a rational explanation. The brain converts information into thoughts/words (conscious information), emotions and behaviour? But where does that information come from? Man is inclined to see a causal relationships, there must be a cause that produces an effect. Is consciousness a combination of the three possibilities described above? Einstein has shown that time is relative. In other words, time as we know it doesn’t exist. A human being (body/mind system) has the ability to remember the past and imagine the future. Properly considered past and future don't exist. Could it be that pure consciousness can only be in the present fleeting moment? To clarify this visually, I use the metaphor of the funnel or hourglass!

All matter in the universe has some degree of consciousness. Man is also matter and of all organisms on earth it has a unique level of consciousness. In fact, I think every human being has his/her unique consciousness. Suppose that consciousness is something that exists outside of ourselves and that we can only perceive consciousness because of our body/mind system? Before the system (human) is created or after it dies, consciousness is unable to perceive the human time dimension (past/future). Consciousness needs man to perceive our time. Consciousness needs man to be able to see herself.?

Hourglass;?Part of my thesis is that consciousness is in the everlasting present moment. As soon as you think about the future or the past, man and his consciousness are no longer in the now. Why do we fall into this trap? The human brain has created time and space to consciously move/function in a constantly changing environment. The dynamic of changes are incredibly fast, it's so fast that it's difficult almost impossible to comprehend. The constantly changing environment is the same as a non-linear dynamic or chaotic system. Our awareness or consciousness must be in motion constantly. It is comparable with a fractal which goes on and on and can move in countless directions. If we want to explore consciousness, we must try to understand the ever-changing present moment. Consciousness is omnipresent, it is present everywhere at the same time. In different religions god is seen as omnipresent. So consciousness could also be called "god" or "now" or "being" or "the voice in your head." Whatever word or words you choose, we can’t explain "consciousness". How can we objectively investigate a non-physical phenomenon? The shape I always see when I try to look at things is the shape of the funnel or hourglass. You can apply the hourglass shape to consciousness and many other things. Let me try to clarify my insight with words and drawings. An entity or person has a body and a mind. At conception they come together and at death they separate. An entity lives in a larger entity (the world around, the universe). Throughout life, the entity can experience both dimensions, matter (body/environment) and consciousness (mind/energy). Both dimensions are continuously connected and always influence one another. At death, the entity (two-unity of body and mind) stops to exists, of course prior to conception there isn't an human entity either. The process of life is complicated in the sense that everything is connected. Each entity has his/her unique experience of both dimensions of body and mind throughout his/her lifetime. There are billions of entities on earth that are connected to each other (consciously and unconsciously). This connection or entanglement doesn't apply only to man but through all of nature and the universe as a hole and it makes life extremely complex.??

When two humans mate, a new entity arise and is born into our 'reality'. The new entity also consists of matter (body) and mind (consciousness). This is a continuous process that takes place in all phases of life and in every entity (human and non-human). Every entity is part of the universe/reality and operates within the universe/reality which is the bigger hourglass. At each stage of existence (individual life), new entities are born and entities die. On global scale thousands of humans die and are born every day. This dynamic and complex entanglement makes overseeing the universal system complicated and difficult. The illusion that you are detached from your environment with an separate ego makes it difficult to see the complexity of the system. The ego is putting you in the centre and is blocking your view of the overall picture. Below I have tried to draw a picture of how I see the conception and death of a human being.

Gean

On the left you see the conception of a human being. In a fraction of a second, the two-unity of body and mind arises. It arises out of nothing, this nothingness is another dimension that we could also call consciousness. On the right you see death, in a fraction of a second, the two-unit of body and mind splits with the mind disappearing into apparent nothingness. This nothingness is the same dimension as mentioned during conception. I call it the everlasting now.?

With help of the metaphor of the hourglass you can see how it works. At the narrowest point of the hourglass there's conception and death. Life unfolds from this point and is an everlasting process, past and future don't exist. You can't go back and you can't go forward. Life goes on ‘steadily’ from the neck of the hourglass. With the human mind (left and right hemisphere) an entity is able to virtually imagine the future and/or past, but physically it's impossible to be in the past or the future. A human can only be in the present moment, the now. Time travel as a two-unit of body and mind is, in my opinion, impossible. Transformation takes place in a fraction of a second in the neck of the individual hourglass (small hourglass). The conception and death of an individual entity takes place inside the great hourglass (universe). Everything, inside the small and bigger hourglass, is always in motion. An ‘individual’ entity has three phases; 1. alive: duality of body and mind. 2. Death, there is only for a short time a body (without spirit) there is only ‘dead’ matter. 3. Consciousness or mind which is not tangible and omnipresent. At death, the intangible mind remains in the narrowest point of the funnel. You could say that there is a hidden dimension in the heart of the funnel/hourglass, it's a place that the entity (body/mind complex) cannot perceive. I have tried to draw this using the infinity sign and indicate the different phases with colours. The circumference of the entity (infinity symbol) is coloured green. In the entity or body/mind complex there is matter (red) and consciousness/mind (blue). You shouldn’t? take this literally because the mind and body influence each other continuously and in ‘real’ life the colours are mixed. For the picture I use blue for the mind and red for the body. In the heart of the small hourglass a transition takes place. I'd like to call it a gateway, a gateway where matter and spirit never can go through together.

Birth/death. On the right side of the drawing you see? that at death the body and the mind splits and during conception the mind and the body comes together. At conception consciousness and matter connects and at death consciousness and matter disconnects or disappears. This connection and disconnection works both ways. At the narrowest point there is a third dimension, a dimension that we as humans cannot see (yet). The process of connecting and disconnecting takes place inside a human being. This process is not subjected to gravity, so it does not run from top to bottom like a conventional hourglass. It's a three-way split and you can't see the third exit. In the narrowest part of the funnel/hourglass there is the everlasting present moment. Transformation of matter, spirit and energy takes place in that narrow spot. In a flash, something happens, during death this could be experienced as a flash. Life flashes by and it is often experienced as a bright light or tunnel with a light source at the end. Many people who have had near-death experiences described it in this way. But also during an orgasm there is a flash of energy that is released and cloud be experienced as an explosion or flash. Recently (2016) scientist have witnessed a flash of energy when a sperm enters a egg, could this be the coming together or transformation of consciousness, matter and energy??

Religions. Religions also use the metaphor of the hourglass to explain things. "Crawling through the eye of the needle" in Dutch means ‘a narrow escape’ or ‘accomplish something just in time'. In various religions, reference are made to transformation or a gateway. The eye of the needle is a metaphor for an apparent impossibility. It is used in the Talmud, the New Testament and the Qur'an. The story of the camel and the eye of the needle fits the image of the hourglass. You can't take anything from the material world into the next world. During history people and animals were buried alive to assist the deceased leader in the afterlife. Apparently people believed or hoped that the deceased could take material things and treasures to heaven into another dimension. In the Bible there is a story about a rich young man who asks Jesus how he can obtain eternal life. Jesus answers him that he must sell his possessions and give the money to the poor. The rich man turns around sadly, to which Jesus says to his disciples; It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God. In the Babylonian Talmud, Rava uses the metaphor of the eye of a needle for an impossible thought. According to him, dreams are revelations of what is in the heart. In the Qur'an there is a similar story as in the Bible; For those who deny our signs and haughtily reject them, the gates of heaven will not be opened, nor will they enter the garden, as long as a camel does not pass through the eye of a needle. These stories corresponds to the drawing of the hourglass, we could call it the hourglass of the spirit. Another conclusion that can be drawn is that consciousness does not cease to exist or returns to a particular destination. The spirit or consciousness remains exactly where it always was. This is what we call ‘God’ and god or consciousness is omnipresent it doesn't go anywhere.

The shape of an funnel/hourglass is present in many facets of life and you can apply it to a lot of areas. For instance; fractals, consciousness, the brain, time, light, black holes, the universe, birth of stars, family tree, the origin (or continuation) of life and so on. If we want to know more about ourselves, the universe and consciousness, we will have to divert our attention from mainly physical phenomena to non-physical phenomena. Maybe the metaphor of the hourglass helps to look at ourselves in another way. Perhaps in time something objective can be said about consciousness, the mind, the soul or ‘God’. The image of the hourglass or the intuition that I try to describe is a subjective insight, it's mine... my insight is so strong and persistent that it has become my truth. For me this is the reason to write this article, I want to share my insight with as many people as possible and help the reader to think for themselves. I hope with this article and my book 'Zelf Bewust Zijn’ I encouraged the reader to think about where we are, who we are and how things work. I don't want to force my insight onto the reader, please do think for yourself. I believe that everything is connected to infinity. It's a kind of knowing without being able to explain it properly with the limitation of words. Our reality is a subject that will change, we often think we have found the truth about how things work, until we see something new or have a new insight. Something new pops up, a new insight emerge and everything turns out to be different than we thought it was, like a black swan.

Life is a dynamic nonlinear process. Life is a black hole, a fractal, mysterious and beautiful. I am now deliberately leave the word chaotic out of the sentence. I have replace the word chaotic with the words mysterious and beautiful. You never know how long your life will last, but if you look and experience it through the lens of unity and love, life it is wonderful and mysterious. It is an wonderful realization to be consciously aware of the fact that you are an inseparable part of life and the universe. Life is not chaotic but it is unpredictable and unimaginably beautiful. To discover that and to live by it is perhaps the meaning of life??

Authors note:? Hopefully this article, Iain's and my book will help to raise awareness in regards to reality as we experience it. I end my (Dutch) book with the poem 'nu’, nu means now. Especially for this article I have tried to translate it into English.?

///

now?

now is short, shorter than a moment?

now is like a single tone in a beautiful symphony?

now is like a drop of water falling into a flowing river?

now is like a taste explosion while taking a first bite?

now is like smelling a bygone scent leaving you in memory?

now is a thought, a feeling, an emoting real fast?

now is energy taking you on the run?

now is breathing, breathing in and breathing out?

now is fleeting, as fleeting as life is?

Be in the now, because now is the moment?

///

If you reverse the word now, it becomes won. If we manage to see the fleeting present moment and act upon it we will win. If more people become aware, if we as a society become aware, we as a species will win. In our virtual future time (the future doesn't exist) we may look back on this period in time (time and history don't exist either) and use the word 'won’ to describe the shift of perception/reality in the now.

My book 'Zelf Bewust Zijn'. The aim I have with my book 'Zelf Bewust Zijn’ is to try to make adolescent children understand that the only thing that really exist is the current fleeting moment or now. The Dutch title of my book is best translated as ‘Self Aware Being’. Does a ‘self’ exist? What is ‘awareness’? What does ‘being’ in the moment mean? The subtitle of the book is; 'Where am I, who am I and how does it work?' When your able to comprehend what I am trying to bring forward something will change. I have split the book in two parts; The first part is ‘waarheid’ which in Dutch is 'truth' and the second part is ‘hyopthese’ which is as you probably have guessed 'hypothesis'. After reading Iain's book I am convinced that the first part of my book comes from the LH and the second part from the RH side of my brain. If you ask yourself the above questions and try to answer them? honestly your awareness and view on life will probably shift. When that happens ‘reality’ as we experience it will change and a next step in our evolution will start to manifest. When this happens on a large scale our global, social, environmental struggles will decrease and we will start to take actions based on inclusion instead of exclusion. We are living on this beautiful planet and if we want to continue to live here we have to change our behaviour. If we manage to change our perspective on reality the next evolutionary step for humanity, the planet, the universe and consciousness will begin.

I love the article. Very well written Gean van Erp ?? and I am so aligned on reaching the younger generation. Every time I talk to someone in early 20s I m fascinated by their openness and embracing reality as it is without of the preconfigured notions older generations are locked into. I like a lot of what you have here, but I would reverse this. I think we just need to learn from the children. Let them teach us. That’s what we’re missing. What a wonderful post, Gean van Erp. I recognise so much of what you are telling, it is astonishing. I experienced the funnel on maybe every level in my body and beyond, and you describe this very thoughtfully. I agree with almost everything you write, although I think we are not just a black hole, but a white hole too. That creates a feedback loop, a gravity field around a quantum entanglement, and the real illusion of the self. I call this the perpetual anime, and you can see the hour glass inside. Thank you so much for your efforts to spread those compelling ideas!
