A little over 2 years ago, I was painting the walls of a basement in Shoreditch and then a few weeks later having to apologise to team members for 'dripping' that was coming from above; later finding out that the floor upstairs had an office puppy...2+2=?
This summer, we welcomed over 100 clients from the UK's leading organisations to the grand opening of our new Innovation Centre complete with Sushi Chefs and Japanese Drummers, live demos of amazing technology that is being adopted by the likes of Great Ormand Street Hospital and in the company of some exceptionally talented individuals.
Back then, could I have imagined how far MagenTys could have progressed in only a short space of time? The answer is a firm 'Yes'. It was very clear that we had a ‘rough diamond’ when I took on the leadership role at MagenTys. The close-knit team of software engineering SMEs had breadth and depth of expertise but not the platform to accelerate and grow. In the following year, leading up to the acquisition by NTT DATA in May 2018, we had established ourselves as a leading player within the London DevOps community, we had a team of 20+ permanent engineers and had forged the foundations of a good partnership with Azure and Atlassian. Yet, we still had not realised our potential as we were restricted by ability to fund our ambitious growth; hiring, learning and development, client management and many more things.
Fast forward to today and our Agile-DevOps capability has expanded to hundreds of SMEs, coaches and engineers (just in the UK), a suite of accelerators to help bootstrap transformation and delivery, we are securing investment in IP and Open Source contributions, we are a Gold partner to Atlassian and Azure, have moved into a cool Shoreditch Innovation Hub and are part of (in my opinion) an unrivalled team of digital SMEs who have the ability to transform any enterprise business.
Have we realised our potential? No way!
As a founding member of NTT DATA Impact, we have just started our journey, not as a DevOps consultancy but as a collective of like-minded technologists and consultants who have the experience and skills to challenge, advise, initiate and deliver change that helps individuals, teams and enterprise organisations deliver better products and services to their end users.
The opening of Epworth House is an exciting new chapter in our journey, NTT DATA is creating new jobs in domains such as Enterprise Agility, Data and Intelligence, Customer Experience, Cyber Security and DevOps, we are investing in developing innovative solutions for Telco, Government , Automotive and Insurance and we are striving to build a community of people who love the impact their work makes on the world.
