For that Realisation called Life

Hi All,

Thank you so much for dropping by and it matter a lot. My Gratitude and Prayers with all of you, whether we crossed roads or no, I still pray for the wellbeing of everyone there.

So presenting a series of my experiences small & big that made me aware that how powerful, strong and competitive the world is. Along the journey, I happen to come across bunch of excellent people who believe in patience, persistence and perseverance will result in performance.

So today’s topic is more about “Hire Passion Drive Innovation”

I had appeared for one of the interviews. I had all the qualifications and competencies required for the Profile. My profile was selected and Face to Face Interview went quiet well. Two weeks passed. No Reply. Three weeks passed No reply. I tried to connect with the HR and they said that your profile is on hold. After fourth week I was been told that the position is on hold. The recruiters fail to understand that this is a small world and people have connects.

I was following up on the linkedin and that’s when one of my acquaintance posted that he is starting a new career with the same position and same company that I had applied. I was upset, not because my acquaintance got the opportunity, but the fundamental fact that why did this happen to me.

Later through the HR connects, I asked one of the panelist why was my profile rejected with a disclaimer “out of curiosity” or “just in order to correct myself for the next time”. I was absolutely taken back by the answer that he gave. He said that “Shamili found you to be more competent than her. She felt a threat for her job and that’s why your profile was rejected.”

I have a similar experience with different hiring managers that they would simply reject the candidate only because they find them to asking some challenging questions or they find them to be more competent. How insane that if you are incompetent, you would just stop entry of competent profiles into the organization just to safeguard your personal interest.. How inappropriate usage of power...

Over a period, the same organization come into conclusion that are unable to drive innovation. How would it be possible when your own people are stopping the entry of talented people.

Watch out for such people in the organization who have complex just because they did not upgrade themselves ? Do train them, coach them and counsel them. May be this is a step forward to build a culture of avoiding unconscious biasness

Do share your feedback, experiences, feelings, would love to hear from you.

Good luck and do take good care of yourself.

Thanks for taking the courage to write down real life experience. Like you I have had similar experience multiple times and unfortunately you have to survive with toxic people like that. My learning from that is “Don’t do the same thing what they did to you” Cheers and waiting for more such stories from you

Thank you very much for this article Raji, and I am sure that some of us have been through similar experiences. I feel learning is a lifelong habit that we must possess and should be criteria to get selected at any level!
