But For Real, Who Even Sets These Rules?

But For Real, Who Even Sets These Rules?

Okay, so listen...

Have you ever stopped to wonder who decided how we're all supposed to live our lives? It's like there's this invisible checklist everyone's trying to tick off: Get good grades, graduate, land a high-paying job, get married before you hit 30, buy a house by 35, have kids, and the list goes on. It's pretty wild how, no matter where we come from, we all end up following a similar script.

But here's the thing: Who said this is the way it's got to be? Take graduating from university right after school, for example. What if I'm passionate about photography or another art form that doesn't need a degree? Or the whole getting married before 30 rule. Maybe I don't want to get married at all, or maybe I want to wait until I'm ready, regardless of age.

And then there's the whole idea that owning a house equals respect in society. Honestly, I could be more than happy in a rented place, spending my money on travel, good food, or just saving up. Not to mention the expectation of having kids. It's not for everyone, and that's perfectly okay.

This brings us to the relentless hustle—constantly moving from job to job, living paycheck to paycheck after loans are paid, stuck in a cycle that seems never-ending. But what if the dream isn't to climb the corporate ladder? What if, instead, the dream is to start your own business, be it a cozy tea shop or to follow your passion and sing your heart out on the streets of France? This isn't about abandoning responsibility; it's about redefining success on our own terms, outside the rat race.

It feels like life's become this step-by-step guide that we're all supposed to follow. But why? And why is it that when someone decides to step off this path, society's quick to judge? It's time we talked about this.

Why do we cling to these "rules"? Who even set them up in the first place? And why should we feel pressured to live our lives according to someone else's blueprint?

Life's too short to live it on anyone else's terms. It's okay to carve your own path, even if it looks nothing like the norm. After all, it's your life, your rules, right?

Now, I know reading this doesn't mean you should quit your job and follow your passion tomorrow. Realistically, everything needs money, and many of us are caught in this rat race, unable to take risks because of 'commitments.' But the point I'm trying to make is to encourage you to gradually move out of this script written by someone else. Remind yourself that sometimes taking risks is the new script you need to write. Maybe not today, but start planning. In a few years, you could find yourself moving towards that passion of yours, creating a life that resonates with your true self.

So, let's question these so-called rules and make our own. It's about time we lived life not by a set of instructions but by our passions, dreams, and the simple joys that make life truly worth living.

I mean, for real, think about it: Who even sets these rules?
