The Real Truth to Success

Success can mean different things to different people.
The desire for success is the most natural thing in the world. Because it comes from an innate compulsion to grow and self-actualise (as per Maslow's hierarchy of needs). But society wants us to believe that success equates to getting the right grades in school or higher education, or climbing the corporate ladder and advancing to the top position in a company or making a 6-figure income as an entrepreneur - all in the name of "having more".
However, this removes us from the original meaning and impetus of success. Instead of interpreting success as having more, we should be focusing on being more or having an expanded awareness of who we are and recognising our potential. Success should come out of the expanse of inner growth and not at its expense.
Success is when you are allowing your creativity flow to be unleashed. It is the business of self-expression - releasing your imprisoned splendour and responding to your "calling" or vocation. Vocation is derived from the Latin "I call". If you are not singing the song that is inside of you, you will wither and perish. This is the truth of Dharma and real truth of success.
What is Dharma? Dharma is when we live our truth and we are liberated to express our gifts in a way that elevates our vibration and that of the collective. In so doing, we live expansively and abundantly. We are the ripple effect that leads to communal saving. When we enact Dharma we are making healthier and more empowered choices: we live a more balanced and happier life. Real happiness is an inner awakening to the truth and power that resides within us and is not derived from external effects/circumstances.
Viktor E. Frankl's "Man's Search for Meaning" is a profoundly influential work. Frankl, a Holocaust survivor, proposes that true success emerges from finding meaning in life, even in the face of suffering. He argues that individuals who connect with their inner purpose and values can overcome adversity and find success in the most challenging circumstances. Dharma is about unveiling and bringing to bear witness to our purpose and the values that this calling awaken within you.
Many can live a fulfilling life occupied in a job that uses their creative gifts and that assures them a sense of meaning because it correlates to their values. But the vast majority unfortunately live in inadequacy - not necessarily financial, but in terms of not fulfilling their innate potential. Their work becomes a place to make a living, rather than an opportunity to make a life.
And for those who have been brave enough to abandon the labour market and set up their own business, expressly to respond to their "calling", to express their gifts and follow their inner compulsion to make a difference, it can be a time of reckoning. This is when we confront our inner demons - our conditioned fears and programming of who we are. So often we fall prey to the idea (one that is often borne of false societal programming) that we cannot make a living from our gifts and our passions in order to allow the fullest expression of who we are. Many of us succumb to the pervasive negativity of our times.
It's therefore imperative to take a prosperity lesson from Psalm 1:1-3
"Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,

nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
but his delight is in the law of the Lord
and on his law he meditates day and night.
He is like a tree
planted by streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season, and
its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers."
If you refuse to believe in the consensus of negativity around how difficult it is to make a living, especially during these challenging times (the council of the wicked) and keep yourself in tune with the divine law of prosperity, then you can be certain that substance will flow as easily to you as substance flows to the tree planted by the river of water.
The key to success and personal prosperity is your consciousness. To reverse any financial strife and to experience abundance is the realisation that you can change your life by altering your thoughts. When you concede that you are not a victim of the vagaries of the economy or of other people, but are responsible for the condition of your present experience and the condition of your bank account, you begin a radical causative process of self-improvement. You start to explore and alter the inner state of the mind that has been blocking the natural flow of abundance in your life.
This new consciousness creates conditions for positive circumstances to unfold. If you are sceptical of this law (the Law of Consciousness), then I challenge you to test it and see what transpires for you. A helpful affirmation from Eric Butterworth (author of Spiritual Economics) is
"I am God's living enterprise, and God cannot fail".
