First of all, if you’re in a sales-dominant industry like the mortgage/real estate profession, recruiting, etc -- your sales success will depend highly on being well known and liked. The basic foundation on which you will build your empire is your PERSONAL BRAND, and you need to be the CEO of your Marketing Department.
I’ll keep it short, because you’ve got your work cut out for you.
In Business, as in life, self-awareness is key.
1) Take Stock Of Yourself, Your Passions & Your Strengths. Do you want to be known for your integrity, empathy, humour or 6 pack? What kind of Niche Market segment would that appeal to?
- Once you’ve decided on your Persona, keep that consistent through all your interactions and various social (and media) contexts.
- Consider your core personality traits as well. If you’re extroverted and able to work with people of a brash nature, consider working with more aggressive segments like investors.
- If you have a softer touch and prefer working with families that need extra attention and understanding, put that face forward.
2) People Need to SEE you To Know You – Now that you’ve decided how you want to be seen, make sure they know your name! ++
- BUILD the network, add connections and don’t be a spam-bot about it.
- BE authentic.
- THEY need to KEEP SEEING YOU OVER TIME – be consistent in posting – keep them engaged.
What do I post?
3) Keep Them Engaged By Playing to your strengths when making content – Blend your passion with your professional for a unique spin
HAVE COURAGE!
Putting yourself out there to the public does open yourself up to criticism, and that’s scary – but it’s something that’s truly worth it for something you BELIEVE in (YOURSELF!)
You need to be your own champion, your own CEO. Take charge with the vision, and set time aside to tend to your burgeoning networking empire daily.
